Just got an e-mail from a venue that I go to, and look what it says!: https://tickets.tarrytownmusichall.org/eventperformances.asp?evt=1089

QuotePRESENTED BY WIZDOM MUSIC
Virtuoso keyboardist Jordan Rudess of the acclaimed progressive rock band Dream Theater brings his unique musical style to Tarrytown for this rare solo appearance. Joined by special guest Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie, the evening will include progressive classics from Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment and more. He will highlight his Billboard-award winning app, MorphWiz, and will perform the U.S. premiere of Explorations, Jordan's orchestral piece, which will be played on 2 keyboards with Turkish musical prodigy Eren Başbuğ. $85 tickets includes a meet & greet after the show.

Sorry if this is old information that I missed because of my ban, but I got really excited about this. I'll probably meet Jordan and James, and it'll be cool to here his new dual-keyboard arrangement.

Probably not. I saw Dweezil Zappa Plays Zappa at the same venue and tickets ranged from over a hundred bucks to twenty-five bucks. The whole place only seats like eight-hundred people, so even the worst seats (I was literally in the top, last row), are GREAT. It's about as big as my school's auditorium.

Anyway, anyone planning on going? It'd be real easy to meet up because it's so small.

lordxizor

Sometimes I wish I lived in NY just for stuff like this.

antigoon

I'm considering it. How close is the venue to the Tarrytown Metro North station?

SystematicThought

That's very cool! Also means that they'll most likely be in studio at that point and JLB will be with them

Birch Boy

After thinking about this a little more... I realized that I may have (a) midterm(s) the next day, and the meet and greet is after the show. Plus eighty-five is a bit much, but it'd be sweet to meet Jordan and James... decisions, decisions.

According to GoogleMaps, it's a nine-minute walk.

Nihil-Morari

Wow! I love what James and JP did in the early nineties. This could be great too.

I HATE LIVING OUTSIDE USA!

Is there any chance anyone will make some videos out of it? :X

tri.ad

That's awesome! Can't attend it, of course, but it sounds very cool.

skydivingninja

COOL!  Can't attend, unfortunately, but still...that's really freaking cool.

Is there any chance that nobody will make a video out of it?

Well, that sounds like a tiny venue, so I had to ask XD

Jordan said that the Explorations premiere was recorded and it'll be part of some kind of documentary thing about it. I would just assume they'll have some kind of recording for this.

zxlkho

If it was 1 week earlier, I'd be there without a doubt. But I won't be because I'll be back in school.

Nick

Very interesting, would love to be there but chances are I won't be making it.

Elsydeon

I just looked up the area on google maps and I had no idea it was so close to me, only an hour and a half drive. I may go to this depending on how much tickets are when they go on sale. anyone else going for a possible meetup?

I'll probably be going; it's a forty-five minute drive from my house.

The only deciding factors are if I have any midterms the next morning, and if I find anyone to bring me.

Mladen

I can't attend the show, but I'm looking forward to seeing some pics and youtube videos.  ;D

Rafael Guerra

Nice! Enjoy the concert fellow U.S friends. Explorations in Venezuela was awesome!  :)

Eighty-five maximum (it includes and after show meet & greet), and I'd say minimum around forty dollars. When I saw Dweezil Zappa Plays Zappa in the same venue, tickets ranged from over a hundred bucks to twenty-five dollars (which I bought, and still had a great view). The venue seats less than nine-hundred people so any seat's a good seat.

blackngold29

Interesting how JR and JLB are doing this show and then JR will be in San Fran a few days later for MacWorld. I thought they were supposed to be making a new album! JLB doesn't do his lyrics until the end, but I thought he might get a little more involved now that MP won't be there (not that MP being there means he couldn't contribute, but MP is a big loss to the band's traditional writing).

I think it's stupid to have things like this on a Sunday night. If it was Saturday, I'd be there.

I agree. I'll still go because I have no exams the next day, but Saturday would've made it much more doable.

JORDAN RUDESS OF DREAM THEATER
TO PERFORM "EXPLORATIONS," HIS FIRST ORCHESTRAL COMPOSITION,
ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 23 IN TARRYTOWN, NEW YORK

TICKETS GO ON SALE TO THE PUBLIC THIS FRIDAY, DECEMBER 24

DREAM THEATER keyboardist extraordinaire JORDAN RUDESS has announced an exciting and rare solo appearance on Sunday, January 23 at the Tarrytown Music Hall in Tarrytown, New York with special guest Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie. Along with Turkish prodigy Eren Basbug, RUDESS will debut his composition, "Explorations," on two keyboards.

"Explorations for Keyboard and Orchestra" was first premiered with two shows on one night, November 19, in Caracas, Venezuela.  During these sold-out performances in Venezuela, Basbug conducted the Chacao Youth Symphony Orchestra while RUDESS played all of the keyboard/synthesizer parts.  It is RUDESS' first orchestral composition, and the January 23 Tarrytown show will mark the first time it is played live on only two keyboards. At the show,  RUDESS will also highlight his acclaimed Billboard-award winning app (2010) MorphWiz.

RUDESS and friends will also be performing two keyboard renditions of music by Dream Theater, Liquid Tension Experiment and more. In addition, Eyal Amir and Ray Livnat from Israel's Project RnL will be joining RUDESS for a new creative version of Project RnL's song "Wake."

Tickets go on sale to the public on this Friday, December 24. They are currently available for Tarrytown Music Hall members only. Tickets range from $25-$65 each. Note: the first 25 buyers of the $65.00 tickets--for an additional $20—will be able to meet Jordan and his guests after the show. Tickets can be purchased through the Tarrytown Music Hall's website.

Sweet. My DZPZ tickets for there were twenty-five bucks, and I was literally in the highest, furthest row, but it was a GREAT view. If I can snag some meet & greet tickets I'll get those, but if not I'll settle for the twenty-five tickets. It's all or nothing for me because this is a venue where getting the cheapest tickets still lands you great seats.

Dcrupi

Wow.  Wish I lived on the east coast, I'd be there in a flash.  Have fun, should be an amazing show!!

Birch Boy

Why don't we get a running list of whoever might go.

I'm probably going. ZBomber said he might, and a few others express interest too. Meetups will be easy since the venue's so small.

Tickets go on sale in less than twenty-four hours... I need to find people to go with, quick.
