I was about to say. "How the hell is this P&R in any way, shape, or form?"

Jesus.

El Barto

I found the song nearly unbearable, but yeah, that was pretty impressive.

Global Laziness

I'm pretty sure I heard a bootleg of this show a few years ago. Either way, pretty funny to hear 20 years later.

Ultimetalhead

I always thought the Winter Rose album was pretty good. Yeah, it's cheesy 80s metal, but JLB is fucking incredible on it.

And I seriously don't care if people think less of me for it, "Rough Boys" is a fucking awesome song.

This, and Fix'd a little. Back when JLB was a singing deity. Now he's awesome, but let's admit it...

Also :lol at the Bootleg title: "Before I Was Dreaming Of Going To The Theater"

Also, Listening to Winter Rose right now. "Dianna" might be the cheesiest song in the history of Cheesy songs that are so cheesy that you could die by listening to it 3 times. Cheesy.

darkshade

wow. makes me realize how much JLBs voice has changed, since im just so used to I&W and Awake. if only his vocal chords hadn't been damaged...

anyway, great find. his voice was so exhilarating back then

yeshaberto

nice find...definately quality vox and I think the song sounds better live than studio

tri.ad

Extremely cheesy, but JLB's performance is really great.

ReaPsTA

Awesome song.  Ridiculously good performance.

I was just gonna post the GITWM video when I read the thread title. Every time I hear LaBrie sing pre-94 incident it makes me sad. It's as if someone had cut off a few of Mozart's fingers or something  - ridiculously talented voice.

Martinman300

Do you think labrie gets sad when he hears stuff like this?

Why would he? He said in a recent interview that, despite doing that kind of music in the past, he was even interested in a more metal/progressive-oriented career back then.

Maybe he was talking more about the quality of his voice than about what he sang back then. I may be wrong though.

Yeh I mean him hearing what he used to be capable of compared to today.

I am deeply sorry for his poisoning. Anyway, the poisoning was the 1st downgrade of his vocal, and after 6 Degrees, he's been struggling so hard to keep his tune. And the downgrading continues through ages...

Zydar

CJS's latest tweet:

"Yeah we did shoot a video for 'Never Fall In Love Again'. It was a live shooting and it came out looking pretty damn good. Cheers."

Nihil-Morari

Strange, I didn't get that tweet.

Now that I check his profile, I only get half of his tweets. Weird.

But very cool! I'd love to see that.

Apparently you haven't heard him for the past few years. I've seen them the last 4 times they've been to Toronto and once he was sick and didn't sound to good, that's it. The last time was with Iron Maiden and he couldn't have sang the songs better. They performed Pull Me Under and the "I'll take seven lives for one" etc.. part, he nailed. It didn't even like he was struggling.
For a guy in his fifties; let alone someone who has been singing all throughout a vocal rupture doing 3 hour shows. He sounds fucking amazing!

IdoSC

LaBrie is capable for a LOT nowadays. He just matured, a lot. If you'll look through some videos, you can see him hitting G5s/G#5s/A5s at 2005-2008, but he doesn't do it as much because it's pointless and it's hard work I guess.

Also, he nails everything DT plays...Pull Me Under sounds great, Take the Time sounded great till 2007 then for some reason Mike thought they should stop playing the 2nd bridge there. Same for Voices, check out live versions of those songs at 2007/2008. Surrounded doesn't sound that bad, James usually nails most of the notes in that song. Another Day sounded the best at 2007 since James' vocal rupture...you can't say he's not doing well for his age.

Yeah. I tweeted him to ask if there was any video of this show around and if there was any plans to release it. I assume they just shot a video for a single and he didn't quite grasp what I was asking.

blackngold29

Wait a sec, their album was called "Before I Was Dreaming Of Going To The Theater"?

Did they mean Dream Theater? :neverusethis:

Nihil-Morari

No that's a bootleg from the mid-90s. Their album was called Winter Rose.

A post 4 years later... But I found this official music video of 'I'll never fall in love again' and searched if there was a topic about Winter Rose here.
Really funny imo, check it out

i 100% agree...and the band was quite good ;)

TheAtliator

Are we sure that this is actually completely live and not touched up? In a lot of the early DT recordings, as amazing as he sounded, he did crack a fair amount live.
