I was just watching the drums only of the score and during Another Won when James hold that long B at the end, it was all vibrato. However on the cd/dvd he holds the note then goes into the vibrato.  Did he re-do some of his vocals later on??

Perpetual Change

That is weird. I don't think he redid any vocals but in my opinion they were definitely toyed with.

Jalis

I still think Score is Awesome ...

but toyed with ?! I bet that the entire crew is toyed with...  :yarr

floppa

Well toyed with or not Another Won absolutely slayed, and for me was probably the best song on that DVD.

I notice you also posted this at MP.com . . .

I did indeed, just trying to get some answers.  Score is my favourite James performance and I was just wondering if he had been overdubbed or anything like that.

Here we go again! If I remember it well, some said that the live performance that night was not as perfect as the one on the DVD.I don't care : JLB's performance on the DVD is awesome, and that's all that counts for me.

I'm not saying I have a problem with it, I was just wondering.  I couldn't care less if it was or not. I love it!  ;D

El Barto

I've got a pretty simple take on it.  His vocals were spectacular that night.  When reflecting on it after the show, I was very much of the opinion that I had just seen the JLB show with special guests.  That's not to say that he was perfect; just excellent.  Considering all of the other recorded performances they've released with vocals that were nowhere near that level, why would they choose to overdub arguably the best night of his career?  They're going to leave Budokan untouched, with him crashing pretty hard at the end, but redo Another Won?  It just doesn't make sense.

I've seen DT 6 times.  JLB has been amazing every single time.  But that night for Score, let me tell you he was amazing.  Not once did I ever think he didn't nail something that night.  I left thinking it was flawless.  So I dunno, I doubt there was much touching up.

Ħ

Didn't they have to redo the guitar for UaGM?  So, we know that they redubbed SOME things...could be that they touched up a couple vocal moments here and there.

7StringedBeast

Yeah they definitely redid under a glass moon because JPs guitar cut out for a minute right before the solo.  Thank god they got it fixed before the solo.

But I'm saying I remember LaBrie being almost perfect that night.

El Barto

I don't remember the guitar cutting out.  I just remember the solo being absolutely flawless.

hefdaddy42

Yeah, his guitar cut out for about 30 seconds or so.  We were wondering "What the hell is he going to do?"

But yes, LaBrie was unbelievably awesome that night.

Plasmastrike

I'm so jealous of members that attended Score. By far my favorite DT DVD.

Must've been a great night. :)

7StringedBeast

IT was my first DT concert, boy did I pick a good one.  It really was an amazing night.  I'll never forget the curtain going up for the second act and there is an orchestra on stage.  I was not expecting that at all and it was sooooooooo cool.

Dublagent66

I don't recall the CD and DVD being different at that particular ending.  James usually fades into vibrato on long sustaining notes like that.  He's does the same thing at the end of Under A Glass Moon.

I'm talking about hearing that note on the drum cam for score.

El Barto

Quite honestly, I would have rather gone to the LSfNY or Budokan show.  Still, it was nice to see a show where JLB really kicked ass.  The guy never seems to bring his A game to Dallas.

Mladen

There are a couple of moments on Score that were obviously overdubbed (''Or think you can be saved'' from I walk beside you comes to mind), but those are obviously some little details that James felt like fixing, no need to make a big deal out of it. His performance on Score is pretty much flawless, and everyone that attended the concert can say so.

ok i love that DVD and every other DVD they have put out but what the hell happened to JLB on the CIM Dvd? That's a head scratcher. I mean that's the worst i've heard him and the fact that they put that out it's something i don't understand. If for some reason the guy is struggling on that tour don't put it out on DVD for all the world to see! Anyway, i don't get the insane amount of vibrato on that dvd. Like for Forsaakeeeenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenen. Does anyone know anything about this?

From what I've learned, he was hit-or-miss on that tour.  Some nights (like the IaW anniversary) he was great.  But on the CiM shows, he was terrible.

ZBomber

I envy those of you that actually witnessed the Score performance in person.

Dmytro Ignatov

Dream Theater also as many other band re-doing some parts in studio after DVD concerts, so Labrie on Score re-singing some parts ( ending phrases, vibrato...), and also Petrucci re-writing some guitar parts in studio, it can be seen at DVD in Under A Glass for example .

To be sure, check out Score video, that some guy do from the crowd, you can find it on Google Video .
