So it's been 26 years since Mike lost his mother in a plane crash.

Seems like today would be as good a day as any to listen to A Change of Seasons.

Listening to it now.  I was also watching part of Dead Poets Society last night on cable near the beginning of the movie.

"Gather ye rosebuds while ye may
Old Time is still a-flying;
And this same flower that smiles today
Tomorrow will be dying"

nikostheater

I am listening to the song right now.
RIP to ms Portnoy.

Oh man...I didn't realize today was the "anniversary". On my drive to class this morning, I had this weird urge telling me "You know, it's a good day to listen to A Change of Seasons". Coincidence or clairvoyance?

Algo Fonix

Everyday is a good day for ACoS.  :P

I listened to it twice.  Made pretty happy.

blackngold29

Just listened to the LSFNY version. Possibly my single most favorite DT track.

My favourite song of all time, and one I never need an excuse to listen to. Watched the Metropolis 2000 version of it last night.

pmahoney1337

#1 DT song for me. I'm a day late but I'll still give it a "special" listen for MP and his mother.

RuRoRul

Didn't listen to it yesterday but I listened to it earlier today after seeing this thread.

Of course I don't really need much of an excuse to listen to it. One of the best Dream Theater songs and best songs in general.

Dublagent66

ACOS will always be a timeless DT classic to me.  It's my #1 DT epic also.   :hefdaddy

Anyone like the demo better than the official release?  They are practically two different songs.  I especially like the demo's Another World.

What an amazing song. My favourite DT epic and one of DT's best songs. There is just not a single part of this song that I don't love.

Listening to the demo now for the first time. It sounds pretty cool, but I'm not a fan of the production quality.

Yeah, I listen to it almost as much as I listen to the actual version. Obviously it isn't as good, but it's still pretty awesome (production aside). I also have a tendency to sing the old lyrics when listening to the proper version.

I agree that the production is worse, yeah, but supposing production wasn't a factor, I'd say the older version is better.  The only part that's weaker is the first two movements, but after that, I quite enjoy the demo.

Rina

I interchange them. Both have good points so I switch it around a bit.

Yeah, I actually think (though doubt it would happen) it would be awesome to have a high-quality live version of the demo version. Just as a cool novelty thing.
