Chances we'll get some documentation of the BC&SL tour now?

Now that Mike is gone, the BC&SL Tour was his last...

Yes, we'll likely get SOME sort of official release.
Yes, but only through Mike/YtseJamRecords/MP4
No, the band won't want to release anything.

I wouldn't care either way.

I posed this question in the big thread - now that Mike's out, what are the chances that his last tour with DT will have some sort of documented release? I stated a couple weeks ago that the festival shows they did in Japan would make a good 1-disc set, containing the four songs they played live from BC&SL, as well as "Prophets Of War" and the "Pull Me Under/Metropolis" medley.

It would be a nice thing to have, to document the last time he played with DT, and IMO, it's a good set list. We'd get five songs that haven't been released live yet, all of which were first played on the last tour.

However, Mike did say last year/earlier this year there wouldn't be a show filmed or anything like that, which was understandable - there were no "An Evening With" shows for this "tour", only festivals, co-headlining shows, and opening for Iron Maiden, and shorter-than-normal shows. I don't think an unofficial release was ever out of the question, though, just nothing through official means.

But with the circumstances as they are, do you think either Mike or the band will consider releasing anything from this tour?

I've never thought of their gigs in the last year as being an official BC&SL tour. There was Progressive Nation, various festivals and the Iron Maiden shows.

True, but getting one of the last two shows Mike did with DT would be a treat considering the set list (August 7th or 8th of this year)... it would just be a shame if we don't get those songs or anything from the shows they played over the last year, knowing now that they were Mike's last with the band.

It's all a matter of if anything was actually recorded... you can't release something that was never filmed. However I think audio wise MP probably planned to release something on the tour via the fan clubs or Ytsejam anyway.

DarkEternalNight

If anything happened, it would probably be a fan bootleg.

Nick

I doubt that, MP was the only member of the band supportive of fan bootlegs in the first place.

Well, not filmed, if anything, I would hope for at most an audio release of some sort, and it always seemed that Mike always had some form of audio from many of his DT shows on record somewhere, so he might have something.

Nick

I'm sure Mike is sitting on some good audio, but he can't release it himself and it is yet to be seen how much he's willing to work with the band on releasing it. And that all implies that the band actively wants to try which is something they may or may not.

TAC

Well, there is a link on JP's site to Ytsejam. Not that it means anything, but I think the band is going to pleasantly surprise us on this issue.
Well, I'm hoping, anyway.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

It would surprise me if it came out soon, maybe in a few years though.

Has there been any official word on the fate of Ytse Jam Records? MP is basically in charge of it, but he won't shut it down will he? Not that he would, it's just it might be odd to sell things for a band you aren't in, then again these are kind of unique circumstances. I hope not because I haven't bought everything from it yet!

JP was asked about this and said he was uncertain about things.

The way I see it. If the guys are all mature enough & the decision to part was fairly amicable, there is no reason that Ytse jam can't be run as before. Mike would probably have everything of worth archived in his collection. He can organize the releases as before, get the ok from the band to release & they all get a cut. That would be the best & mature thing to do IMO & benefits all parties & us fans.

The Letter M

As an aside, I think the future of YtseJamRecords rests in recordings of the past. I doubt that Mike would release bootlegs of anything from DT that didn't have him in it, but his whole basement is a library of recordings that, perhaps Mike in his infinite fandom-ness, will pull some awesome shows to release on CD and/or DVD for the fans to enjoy.

-Marc.

Nick

But does Mike own YtseJam or does the band? If the former Mike might sell it off.

rumborak

I don't think it will continue. This was Mike's thing, and given he quit the band, I doubt he will spend countless hours working on DT-related stuff.

I believe he may... It supplements their income & keeps the fans happy. I really hope it continues anyway.

Their income is not something that should matter MP right now, given he's not a part of the band anymore. It would be quite strange if MP still did some DT-related stuff, given his explanation on how his heart was no longer with Dream Theater.

blackngold29

I was speaking more in terms of the current items remaining available (at least until I can acquire them). I don't really see MP releasing special things from a band he isn't in, nor would I ever expect him to.

hefdaddy42

I think that Ytsejam Records is owned by the band, but MP handled it, and AFAIK, mabrown ran the website and day-to-day operations.  I don't know how much new material will be offered, but if the band is still willing to pay mabrown to handle the administration, I don't see any reason for it to fold.

Well, actually... according to this, it was definitely filmed, and pretty professionally too:

Awesome A/V quality, must be a TVRip.

Just thought I'd share

So perhaps the chances that the other songs were filmed as well are pretty high, so their whole set could be available someday on DVD and/or CD.

Hey guys, followed these forums for a long time now, just never bothered registering :p but with all this MP business I felt it only right that I share my opinions too!

Well anyways, I can see there being some documentation as I'm pretty sure they filmed a few songs, so here's hoping?
