There might be some good music coming from this new guy. I don't know why I think that.

I hear they aren't facebook friends anymore either.  If thats not a good indicator that some shit has gone down, then what is?  :neverusethis:

facebook sets EVERYTHING in stone . . .

;)

ddtonfire

The facebook and twitter de-following things are just unsubstantiated rumors.

chrisbDTM

I NEVER SAID THAT

hahah

no idea whether he followed him before or not. i simply was theorizing how MP would see jordan's video

HarlequinForest

I must admit, that last chord made me poop my pants.

robwebster

Constantly misreading the thread title as "Jordin Sparks."

They're substantiated by... looking on their facebook and twitter.

At the top of a twitter page, it lists all the mutual friends.

No MikePortnoyDT. Likewise no Jordan if you look on MP's page. I'm following both. Were they still following one another, they'd show up.

Similarly, you can look at their facebook friends. Search Mike Portnoy's personal account, and scroll right through to the "J" section. Conspicuous lack of Rudess.

The "de-following things" are substantiated by all that nasty de-following business they've been up to, naughty boys.

Sigz

No, the point is no one's sure if they ever were following each other at any point.

John94

Jordan introduced Mike onto twitter. Definitely did follow him. Wouldn't make sense for one band member not to follow another.

IT'S A BIG DEAL LET'S KEEP DISCUSSING THIS INSTEAD OF TALKING ABOUT THE BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF MUSIC JORDAN IMPROVISED FOR HIS FANS!

Marvellous G

That was actually lovely. And perfect. Well done Jordan for giving easily the best response to this.

Really, it was beautiful  :sadpanda:

Where it got quiet near the end, I cried. I really did. Then that sinister chord at the end kind of speaks a lot...

Am I the only one hoping this makes it to the next DT album? Or at least a JR solo album?

You are not alone on that. I'd love for this or something like this to find its way onto the next Dream Theater album.

FsF

One of the best things i've heard Rudess compose. Just beautiful, and perfectly fitting for my mood, if not the mood of most DT fans right now.  Echo the comments about it appearing on the next album.

juice

It sounded very nice but I couldn't hear what he was saying.  Would anyone be so kind as to post the lyrics here?

ACID_FOX

I crapped myself when he played that chord :o

LCArenas

Proof number 134923591212425354 that Jordan can write some incredible stuff aside of his solos.

And that last chord gave me the chills as well.

Something tells me that he was waiting for Mike to get out... As if he had already knew him before... :P

Well, it's the equivalent of taking the phone number out of your phone. Which tells you something about the mindset.

rumborak

There's no similarity whatsoever. Taking a number out of your phone means never wanting to contact that person again. No longer following them on twitter means not wanting all their comments popping up on your feed, which is understandable as he's probably pretty upset about what has happened.

Perpetual Change

Hm. I could only hear Jordan saying "That's alright, that's Okay." and stuff.

Copy and paste from my post on the sticky:

That last chord in the Jordan Speaks video it's still ringing in my head. I don't know what it meant. I think there's so much embodied in that chord that... Wow, it's like, after several minutes of improvisation and saying that "It's ok, it's alright" that MP had left, that chord it's like a "But it's not that alright for us and you're still breaking our heart and making us feel pain, you bastard".
I'm still impressed by that chord, man.

Dr. DTVT

That video is what DT seriously needs more of...JR playing piano (or using a regular piano patch on his keyboard) and less wonky stuff.  That was beautiful, until the end - which clearly wasn't meant to be beautiful  :sadpanda:

This.

I thought it was fucking awesome.  Up to and including the last chord.  Real emotion, not manufactured bullshit.  Rock on, JR.

WDADU

That ending chord really hit home. Felt a lot and it conveyed a lot.

Please come back soon, Mike.

orcus116

That chord sounded more like a "Fuck you" than anything.

I don't think it was any sort of "FU" to anyone... just more of a... "black cloud", if you will. Even though everyone's trying to move on and portray this in a positive light, seeing the greener grass, but this is still a blow to the band through and through. It just sounds like he's just emoting that side of things... it's anger, yes, but nothing directed anywhere....except through his hands onto the piano.

Maybe.  It was definitely not "That's alright, it's OK."

Whatever it was, I liked it.

MirzekDT

That video seriosly made me cry hard from the beginning to the end and I've never expected that some piece of music would ever do it to me but now I just couldn't stop it, it was totally out of control... I've read these sad news just half hour ago or something, I felt a bit strange from the beginning but not really that much sad but this piece totally hit me for some reason it's amazing...

SnakeEyes

Um, has anyone considered that they're not following each other on Twitter now because, well.... THEY'RE NOT IN THE SAME FRIGGING BAND ANYMORE?  Perhaps Jordan doesn't give a crap what Portnoy is up to and Portnoy doesn't give a crap what Jordan is up to, which means they don't want to constantly be getting alerts as to what each other is doing....  it doesn't mean, "they're not friends," it just means that they're not following every waking moment of each other's lives.
