Me neither. In fact, that was a very good comparison.

That said, it hasn't escaped me how Mike reserves to himself to return to lightheartedness, while the fans on his forum are being ostracized for having moved on and discussing DT's next drummer. Control, I guess, in all aspects.

He didn't write it, but he quoted this. Is he trying to tell us something? (This goes a bit along the lines of "the band my dad named")

Not trying to start a flame war here, this was a big change in DT land and my musical life, but MP should stop suggesting the band's over without him.

So this blog states that Mike is the "heart" of the band?

The "Heart" of the band just threw the other 4 internal organs under the bus. I mean, what kind of option is it to say no more business for a few years? And right after the IM tour just brought in thousands of potential new fans. In this case, we have myocardial infarction, so it's time for a heart transplant.

I think it has more to do with Mike feeling sad for having to leave the band, and trying to make it clear that everything he did for DT was very important. Like trying to leave a very strong impresion before quiting. In a way, he has to reinforce the importance of his status in the band now that he has to let it go. Kind of when you quit your job and try to get some recognition from your boss and coworkers: you want to hear them saying "it won´t be the same without you", "you were a vital resource for the company", etc. (while at the same time acknowledging that your replacement can do a good job).

At the end, I agree with those who think it may sound very self-centered and even arrogant. On the other hand, everybody wants and needs recognition, which is what MP is looking for at this moment. And probably he made it public because he´s very vocal about everything. So I understand his feelings and I don´t see a reason to condemn him. I still believe he will be very happy if DT succeeds without him.

I think Mike gets TONS of recognition as it is. It's not like he went unnoticed till now.
