What the hell, there's people who don't like The Count of Tuscany?

They're called high school graduates. :neverusethis:

I was always able to reconcile the silliness of the lyrics with the serious nature of the music. I think it's a great song.
To be honest, I don't see the music as super serious at all. Yeah, it's not comedy music, but it's very whimsical and much of it is quite light, same as the lyrics. I don't see any disparity at all.

Look, the music is awesome, and the lyrics are awful.  That's just the way it is.  People that don't understand why some other people don't like the lyrics generally don't put a lot of stock in ANY lyrics.

As bad as the lyrics are, I still love the song.  Definitely the best on the album, and their best in several albums.

Oh I get how people could dislike the lyrics, I just don't get how anyone could think the lyrics are an honest attempt at instilling horror or suspense in the listener or whatever.

It doesn't matter what the honest attempt was - they aren't good.

Those who like to watch buffy the vampire slayer love the lyrics.  Those that have a stick up there butt don't.  :loser:

This is where I completely disagree.  It's not super serious, but it's not whimsical either.  Think of it like Die Hard.  You're not meant to treat it like Requiem for a Dream, but you're supposed to actually care about the characters and the action and get pumped.

And really, starting with the ambient solo, the music actually does take a far more serious turn.
