The best song from SFAM. It used to be an easy top ten since it's such a perfect song. Filled with wonderful emotion, subtlety, and of course technicality (it's still DT). And probably JP's most definitive solo. Can't get much better than this.

I think it was Kosmo that predicted Take The Time as my number 1 song? Well, you're wrong. Anyway, as people have said before, this is DT's most FUN song. It's just so bouncy. I would absolutely love to see this live. One of the stronger songs off IAW. I actually like listening to the demo version since JLB's voice is much more raw and gruff. But yeah, this has one of JP's best solos.

I love metal, but I just don't like that song much at all. Although I'll admit, it's got some decent riffs.

My first favorite from Black Clouds. This is THE way to close the 12-step-suite, and I wouldn't have expected anything less from Dream Theater. The hairs on my arm literally stood up several times in this incredibly emotional and fulfilling conclusion. Yes, it has a couple lyrical problems, yes it is the cut-n-paste song, but it WORKS. What a fabulous end to quite a journey. Also fantastic to listen to with the removed vocals.

The best song from BCSL, and the best song since Octavarium. I'll admit, I thought DT was pretty much done for after getting through both Systematic Chaos and the first half of Black Clouds. But this song restored my faith. A wonderful journey from start to finish. And perhaps the greatest conclusion they've ever written. Give it up for this monster.

Were you expecting this?

I first heard this song on Once in a LIVEtime, where it was coupled with the god-awful Cover My Eyes (which you'll never see me praise, not in a million billion years). It is quite a subtle, mysterious tune, and very ambient in a sense, which is very uncharacteristic of DT. Anyway, this song is one of their most underrated gems (not THE most underrated, hint hint).
