Nope.  My top album spot is an eternal duel between Moving Pictures, Lightbulb Sun, and Wish You Were Here.

My top 5 are all Rush records, but DT has a couple places between 6 and 10.

jcmistat

Six Degrees is my favorite album of all time

Dublagent66

My musical tastes are too diverse to have one favorite album, so no.

El Barto

If I had to conger up a top 10, Scenes might be in there, I'm not sure.  Some that would make the cut:

Sad Wings of Destiny
Hemispheres
Fragile, TYA, or CttE--my favorite among them changes twice daily
Rage for Order

Fluffy Lothario

I don't have a favourite album, although my two default choices (i.e. someone asks me this question and I'm too lazy to list 15 albums but don't want to give them no answer) are Lateralus and Keith Jarrett's Cologne Concert.

7StringedBeast

Yes.  Scenes From A Memory is still my favorite album of all time.  Transatlantic has crept pretty close to it though.

After 25 years, Marillion's Misplaced Childhood still rules an entire world of awesome albums.

There are bands that I love more, but this album just seems to put it all together for me.

FlashCE

Pain of Salvation - "BE" is my favourite. It is progressive as all hell without being silly about it. It also probably has the best "Full Circle" implementation ever.

Dr. DTVT

Images & Words has been my favorite for at least the past 11 years.

Zydar

It switches between Images And Words, and other non-DT albums.

My Top 5 usually looks something like this (in no particular order):

1. Dream Theater - Images And Words
2. The Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
3. The Beatles - Abbey Road
4. Genesis - Selling England By The Pound
5. Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon

Elsydeon

I really don't have a favorite album specifically. But as of right now, In Absentia has been getting a lot of listens recently

Infinite Cactus

Dream Theater makes the top 3.
1.Van Halen - Fair Warning
2.Van Halen - 1984
3.Dream Theater - Awake

Arcaeus

Nope. My favorite album is between Pain of Salvation's The Perfect Element, 65daysofstatic's The Fall of Math, or Jeff Buckley's Grace... I can't choose which, but no matter the choice it's not a Dream Theater album. Images & Words could very well make my top 10, however, were I to make a list.

TAC

Yes, My favorite album of all time is Dream Theater's Images & Words.
Quote from: wkiml on June 08, 2012, 09:06:35 AMwould have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Quote from: Stadler on February 08, 2025, 12:49:43 PMI wouldn't argue this.

I have no idea what my favorite album is, but I can say with a fair amount of certainty that it's not a Dream Theater album.

Zook

My favorite album is Iced Earth's Night Of The Stormrider.

Meleeruler

Although a large chunk of my top ten favorite albums are DT, my favorite is Beyond Daylight by Vanden Plas. Suuuuuch a good album.

wkiml

It flips for me...but its either "Images and Words" or "Rust in Peace" depending on my mood at the time

Mebert78

A DT album is almost my fav all-time album.  It's #2.  But DT members are in my other top 5 albums.

1) Queensrÿche - Promised Land
2) Dream Theater -Awake
3) Fates Warning - A Pleasant Shade of Gray
4) OSI - Office of Strategic Influence
5) Chroma Key - Dead Air for Radios

ZBomber

My top 5 albums:
1. Rush - Permanent Waves
2. Dream Theater - Scenes from a Memory
3. Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
4. Fleetwood Mac - Tusk
5. Rush - Hemispheres

And 6 was Images and Words.... this is from a list I did a little over a year ago. It might be a little different now that I've heard Deadwing. :p

zxlkho

My top 5:
Porcupine Tree - In Absentia (this probably won't change for a long time)
Dream Theater - Scenes From a Memory
Coheed and Cambria - In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
Tool - Lateralus
Porcupine Tree - Lightbulb Sun

In Absentia is miles above all others. I seriously listen to more than one song from that album every day.

RazielSR

My top 5 metal albums:

Stratovarius - Episode
Stratovarius - Fourth Dimension
Stratovarius - Visions
Dream Theater - Awake
Dream Theater - BC&SL / 6DOIT

I am always torn between SFAM and MINDCRIME.  cant pick.

yes, I am one of "those" people

SinisterMinisterX

Images & Words is top 5 for me, but no album will ever be better than Live After Death. (My avatar is no accident - that album changed my life.)

MetropolisxPt1

I have a lot of varying music tastes. Dream theater is my favorite band however, they did not make my favorite album.

1. Power Windows - Rush
2. My Spanish Heart (Jazz) - Chick Corea
3. Scenes From A Memory - Dream Theater
4. Iowa - Slipknot (Yes, but when this album came out it was amazing.)
5. Wintersun - Wintersun (Its considered Melodic Death metal but once you listen to it you will be amazed. Yes there is screaming.)
6. American Beauty - The Grateful Dead

yorost

I put switches, as I don't really have a unique favourite.  At any given moment I would list some Dream Theater album as one of my favourites, though.

I would almost always at least list:

Journey - Journey
Solas - The Edge of Silence
...and some Dream Theater album out of Awake, Scenes From a Memory, or Train of Thought
