Hi Everyone,
My name is Will, and I work for Pyramind Studios in San Francisco.  I wanted to let you guys know about a very special event we're doing with Jordan Rudess on Monday night, April 26th.

He'll be coming by our place to show off new gear by Roland, including the Gaia SH-01 and VP-770 synths, as well as (and this is the really cool part) demoing the amazing music-making opportunities made possible by the new Apple iPad.  :metal  And of course there will be time for Q&A afterwards, as well.

As you might imagine, we're really excited about this event.  Here's a link where you can find out more information, or buy presale tickets for just $20.

Thanks, everyone!  If you have any questions, you can email me at will@pyramind.com

Rock on,

Will there be video footage of this?

Hi Jamesman,
Yes there will likely be video at some point, but timing and delivery method are TBD.

And thanks Nick! Appreciate the sticky.    :hat

Cool. I would totally go to this if I lived in San Francisco and not Scotland.

Sigz

I'd totally go if I were in the Bay Area, sounds awesome.

From the Apple events listing here - https://training.apple.com/#events

Jordan Rudess needs no introduction. On solo tours and with prog rock legends Dream Theater, he's wowed crowds across the world with his immortal piano & keyboard skills. On Monday April 26th at 7pm, he brings his experience and talent to Pyramind Studios in San Francisco for an evening workshop about the incredible music-making opportunities presented by the iPad. Co-presented by Roland keyboards, Jordan will also demo some of their new hardware including the Gaia SH-01 synth. And he'll answer any questions about his career, technique, Dream Theater, and more. Tickets are $20 presale, $30 door.

Am I allowed to post?   :tup

The session was great.  Jordan did live jams on stage using some incredible iPad apps.  I was rushing around taking care of things, so I didn't get the names.  But one of them was called Looptastic, and I can definitely see that app being used extensively in a live music creation setting.  Then another was in beta, and featured a wizard (a digital representation of Jordan!) singing notes and chords based on where you put your fingers.  Then a third had a piano keyboard and a galaxy-like vortex that would spin based on the speed of your playing.  That one was awesome!  Again, I'll get the names for everyone when I speak with Jordan again.  I believe the latter two apps were preview versions of ones he's working on for sale in the Apple iPad store.

A gentleman named Uri Nieto from Stanford CCRMA also came by and demo'd his very cool iPad app that was based on software called ReacTable.  It pretty much blew my mind because I've been envisioning touch-screen music creation software similar to that for years. And a controllerist named Moldover (https://www.moldover.com) also stopped in for a surprise visit to show off his custom-built Mojo controller.  Jordan rocked out improv-style with both of them.

The highlight of the night for me, though, was when our COO & Composer Paul Lipson jammed on stage with Jordan.  Paul's an accomplished jazz guitarist, and Jordan was rocking an iPad.  That was some great music!  They finished up and Jordan said to him on stage, "Wanna make an album?"  Very cool moment.  :)

We've got video of the whole event that we'll be cutting together. Once it's available, we'll let folks know.

And thanks to this entire community for your support of this event.  On behalf of all the guys at Pyramind, I really appreciate your hospitality.  :)

Rock on!

Stop copying me.

First it's liking DT, then it's knowing your brother and now this.

I'm sorry I don't know why I do these things. Next thing you know I'll be playing around with computers all day and calling everyone on the forums a noob to cover up my own insecurities.

Stop derailing the thread with your petty name calling, NoobFace.

:lol

Just heard from Jordan.  The two unreleased apps he previewed were called Morphwiz, and Wizbot.

We now return you to your regularly-scheduled good times.  :)
