This. It sits very comfortably in my top 10.

GuineaPig

It sits comfortably in my top 3 or 2 or 1 depending on my mood.

Nothing DT has written since it has matched it, imo.

glaurung

Lines in the Sand is better.

True but they're both really good songs anyway

I love Trial Of Tears. The "its raining" verse is one of the catchiest and most remarkable verses of the band IMO. I mean, im just forced to play it on my iPod everytime it rains.

Funny, I was listineing to Trial yesterday and totally appreciating Myung's grooving like never before.  Just listen to the groove under the pre-chorus.  Genius.

LTE

#1 on FII imo.

Every part of the song is awesome. Especially love Petrucci's "holdworthian" solo

KevShmev

A borderline top 5 DT song.  It's awesome in every way possible.  :tup :tup

Elsydeon

favorite dt song.  such an awesome song, love it!

Dimitrius

It's been my favorite DT song since the first time I heard it.

The Budokan version is the definitive ToT version, Blob would agree with me.

Haven't heard it so I can't comment.

nightmare_cinema

It's the best on the album and an awesome song but not really up there with the other amazing stuff imo...

read the title initially as just 'tears of appreciation', I get those a lot with DT. Where it's just soooo fucking good your eyes start watering in sheer joy. :metal

It's a toss up for me.  I would tend to lean more towards ToT, but the CiM version of LiTS is better than any other version of the two.

Arguably my favorite. Probably not, but absolutely top-five.

Always duking it out with Lines in the Sand for the title of "best FII song" ever since I listened to the album. An amazing track, 10/10 for me. Few DT tracks have accomplished such an elaborate and tranquil atmosphere while being interesting and always fresh.

I guess I should be honest here. I've only heard this song like, twice. I should probably correct that.

Go henceforth and return ye NOT until you have corrected this obvious and pronounced character flaw.
