twee

I don't know if this is just a typo or some British slang that I've never heard before.
I don't either, but it seems a bit twee.

Aha! No, it's a real word. It means sickly sweet, in the context of artwork. A bit wimpy. Like the teletubbies.

Been knocking about for well over 100 years, so it's not really slang. Didn't realise it was that British a word, though. I'm such a limey.

Twee is an excellent word. Americans are silly for not using it. :P

Images and Words is the closest for sure.  But a great deal of newer fans aren't as excited about it.
Probably the newest fan here (about a year) and it's possibly my favorite.

Can't... cope... with... such... horribly... incorrect... use... of... "twee"......

Well, what did you expect? Of course, they would try to use it universally. Some kind of a horrible trial-and-error scheme it is...

It would help to know what "twee" means, you pompous jerk.
\o\ lol /o/

Indeed. :lol

Somewhat reminiscent of Anchorman. "When in Rome..."

Sorry to put this back on topic, but I'm a long time fan that doesn't care much for I&W.  Side two is great, and side one does nothing at all for me.  And considering how much I like the next two releases, it really doesn't even out.  Of all the albums, I&W is definitely the one I listen to the least.

Oh, absolutely.  I think the only 5 people in the world who hate Awake are members of this board, so, yeah.

Nah, Awake just inspires intense feelings.  All my friends who listen to DT and don't participate in heated online discussions about Kevin Moore seem fairly neutral about Awake.

Nah, Awake just inspires intense feelings.  All my friends who listen to DT and don't participate in heated online discussions about Kevin Moore seem fairly neutral about Awake.

After I joined DTF and heard that Awake was amongst one of the higher regarded DT albums, I decided to give it more of a fair chance and gave the album more listens, and I finally understood the album-and now it's amongst my all time favorites.

And you're right, a lot of people I know who are more "casual" DT fans, don't really like Awake a lot. My friend who I would consider more "hardcore" of a fan than others even went on to say that "They probably shouldn't play a lot of that at the Maiden/DT concert because it's not that heavy" I responded with "Have you listened to Awake?" To be honest, Awake comes off as very dark, and heavy even moreso than ToT and SC in my opinion (some people who don't give it a lot of chance don't realize that or 'get' the album imo), and that's because it seemed like it turned out that way naturally and they didn't go in saying "Let's make a METALL album!"

Anyway, the most liked DT album around here that *most* can agree on would probably be SFAM or Images.

I&W Definitely. Haven't seen a single DT fan who hates it.
I hate it
At least it's the worst album...or, WDADU is worse. I don't like their old stuff though, I started to listen to Dream Theater when Octavarium was out so...that was the first album I heard, and I like that more, Since Jodan Joined the band, they're just getting better and better.
