Well nearly all consoles are sold at a loss which is then gotten back with game sales. The exception to that is the Wii - that's why Nintendo are really rolling in the money, they get profit from the consoles too - at the opposite end, the PS3 was being sold for a baaad loss when it first came out, though its far less now.

Did anyone see the news for the new iPhone OS4? It has MULTI-FUCKING-TASKING! And an excellent way to handle it to! Read more here: https://www.apple.com/iphone/preview-iphone-os/

And of course, this OS will come to the iPad as well, which make the iPad at lot more interesting for me.

Now if it would just support flash and have a USB port, I'd consider getting one.

About time they got multitasking. Computers from the 1960s have multitasking...

Guy complaining about the iPad's feature (or it's lack of):

https://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2010/apr/09/ipad-flaws-review

Quote
it doesn't charge while it's syncing – which could mean you go off leaving it to suck in your huge music library and equally huge photo library only to come back and find that it's died in the middle of the process. Make sure it's charged up before you start syncing.

Yes, waiting 3 years to put a simple thing as multitasking in a phone is definitely right.

I really take big issue with this iAd crap. Way to piss off the majority of the iPhone/iPad users who aren't blind, drooling fanboys.

I don't think the iAd thing will be as bad as you say. I think it'll be used to make free versions of apps and if you want an app with out ads, you pay for it.

That's just me guessing but it makes sense.

Hmmm, I think a lot of the apps for iPhone use AdMob though (correct me if I'm wrong), which Google owns.

Edit:

Quote
Thanks to his company's control of the operating system that underpins the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, Apple's network would be able to serve up more creative forms of advertising to run inside the "apps" users download onto these devices, he said.

So essentially it makes no difference to consumers, or app developers. Not sure why it's such big news, it's just Apple developing a way to make themselves more money :lol

Apple is failing on so many levels with the iPad and the new OS.  They really need to get their act together.

Yup, but it's pretty much ingrained in a lot of American society now, so I don't see it going away anytime soon.

The funny thing about this is that tons of people feel the same way as you, but many millions think the iPad and other Apple products are awesome and the best out there. They're never going to make products that everyone loves. That's not their goal. Their goal is to make slick interfaces and user friendly devices. I get so tired of people ripping Apple for not making the product they wanted. Millions of people want Apple products. That's a fact. Their stock is sky high. The iPad sold a ton of devices in the first week. I don't think they need to get their act together. I think you need to see the reality that they make products that work well for millions of people. Just because it's not what you want doesn't make it a bad product.

Yes a lot of people want Apple products. But they want them BECAUSE it says Apple or iThis or iThat. Apple capitalizes on their brand name; not their products. They still need to make good products, whether people buy them or not

Yeah but how many of those millions of people can actually explain why they needed an iPad? "It feels and looks great" doesn't justify the price tag for a gadget like this in my opinion.

iPad is what some of you doesn't want out of a computer, and then you say it's bad? I don't want/don't have any need for a Wii, does that make it a bad product? NO! I see that the product itself is well made. I just don't have any interest in it.

And how is their new OS a failing? Apple has invented a way to make use of multi-tasking without actually having all apps use their full capacity when they're in the background. Is that a bad thing? Perhaps it's should have been implented a long time ago, but that STILL doesn't make the OS itself a failing, just late to the party. ;)

I do realize there are fanboys. But you also have the opposite end of the spectrum, people who piss on it simply because it's Apple, just as some people does with Microsoft. Take the product for what it is, not for what you want it to be, not for who makes it.

It doesn't bother me on Apple's products, but its infuriating on products that are completely unrelated.
