[Movie] Zombieland
« on: January 13, 2010, 03:56:15 AM »
I think this movie deserves a review. I'll just do the "go over each criteria" review style. This review will contain almost no spoilers.

Story 8/10
It's a zombie comedy movie, but I'm sure you will get quite more than what you would expect. Some minor plot twists make you go WTF not in that bad way. Before watching the movie, I was expecting some mindless zombie killing tour around US. Well I should say that is pretty much it though, but the plot isn't that predictable and childish. And well above all, we don't demand an awesome story from a comedy movie right?

Visual 9/10
Pretty gruesome overall. A LOT of blood and dismemberment, and quite realistic. Not much to say here, just watch the movie.

Music 8/10
The music setlist isn't that "Epic or OMGIMTURNINGEMO", but it still doesn't make those awkward moments. During the intro part of the movie, you will hear a surprise metal song(Not DT btw).

Acting 9/10
I should say the acting is quite good. It's not like some Darknight Joker acting, but it will certainly help you get into the movie. And you will see a special guest appearance at the middle part of the movie.

Comedy 10/10
Hell yeah, it's one fucking funny movie. Many of the lines and moments are memorable. The movie has this set of Rules For Survival in Zombieland and it often gives you lmao moments. Not that my comedy standard is low, trust me, it's funny.

I guess that's all. I'm not that strict about movie rating, so don't expect it to be the best movie of the year or something.

I really enjoyed the film. I wasn't expecting the guest appearence at all but it made my day when he appeared.
Woody Harrelson makes the film in my opinion though. His character is brilliant.

I'd go so far as to say that Zombieland is now my favorite comedy movie I've ever seen. I wasn't expecting much going into it, but I was surprised at just how good it was. Very likable characters, and I agree - Tallahassee made the film.

Plus when I saw it in theaters, there was a huge level of audience participation going on, which is always fun in movies like this. Especially during the now infamous cameo. :lol

One of the best movies made that year, if not the best.  I saw it twice, one of those times being this morning.

I agree. It wasn't funny at all. It's kinda easy to compare it to Shawn of the Dead, and even though I don't like Shawn of the Dead that much - it's better than this. Then again, most British comedies are > American ones.

I saw this movie last night.  It was mediocre; not very memorable, not all that funny, and pretty pointless, imo.

I enjoyed it. Not gonna win an Oscar or anything but it made me laugh at times. The rules were integrated well and were responsible for most of my laughs.

Before I saw this movie, a lot of people said like "It's better then Shaun of the Dead".
Watched it, but laughed maybe once or twice.
Overall, this movie is miles away from being anywhere near as brilliant as Shaun of the Dead is.

I saw the film a while ago, and while it was funny at times, it lacked much of the subtlety and the bizarreness of the humour that Shaun Of The Dead had. SOTD is way better imo.
... And you ask me: "Where's my hairspray?"

It's good, but NOTHING beats SOTD. This is fact.

I liked Zombieland a lot. As has been said before, it has absolutely nothing on Shaun of the Dead, but it's still enjoyable.
