Dream Theater on Charlie Chaplin's "The Kid"
« on: January 12, 2010, 04:28:21 AM »
I'm happy to announce that the 13th of March I will be performing a live piano concert featuring Dream Theater's music. Me and 3 other musicians will be playing the piano while the silent movie "The Kid" is playing. We will record this, and I will upload the audio files so those of you who are interested can give a listen to it. Overall I wouldn't mention this here, but because I will be playing parts by Dream Theater I think some might be interested.

It'll be about 10 minutes and the following songs will be featured:
- In The Presence Of enemies (Heretic and Salvation)
- Finally Free (A and B, that's about the first 1,5 minute)
- Stream Of Consciousness (H, around 9:03)
- 6DOIT (Goodnight Kiss 3:42 - 4:41)

I'll upload it as soon as I have the audio material, I'm practicing now but it's not really complicated to play, so I'm already able to play everything, but now I'm working on the timing!

Hey this should be interesting !
Will you have videos of it too ? I'd like see where the DT stuff will fit in the movie.
The Kid's original score is one of the most beaufitul ever written IMO, specially during the scene where the son is taken away from his father..heart-wrenching.
In fact it's quite a challenge to give it a new soundtrack !

I'll try to paste the audio on the video, and upload it as well.
Indeed, that scene is beautiful yet painful. I've taken salvation for that scene, but than a little slower than how it's supposed to be. And it fits perfect.

So the concert is tomorrow, I'll try to get the recording up as soon as possible. I edited a bit and Endless Sacrifice will also be in the movie. Hope it works out tomorrow :D

I'm sorry about the triple post, but here it is. Skip to the last half for the dream theater part, but basically everything on there is great. Haven't looked at all of it, but the live version was great. So I hope you guys like it!!!

Nice job !
I thought the DT stuff worked quite well, the dark master theme fits well and 6DOIT certainly is a beautiful ending
I felt the Finally Free bit may be a little too ominous for the mother-son reunion though.
I heard you used some of the original score too, in the dormitory scene ! Love this score.
Nice to have included "Smile" too  :tup
