The D90 has to have a manual shutter speed on it.  I'd be very surprised if it didn't because my d5000 has that option.
If anyone in this thread judge him; heyy James WTF? about you in Awake In Japan? Then I will say; WTF about you silly?

I hope so :)  Just need to break out the manual...  Unfortunately I didn't have it with me on the trip, or internet to pull one up online.

No BULB setting? that's what you should be looking for, though I don't know that model camera very well.

You can keep the shutter open as long as you hold the button down.  It's manual shutter time.

precisely. it's recommended you use a remote of some sort to trigger it, so you don't actually have to hold down the shutter yourself. Be sure to use some in camera noise reduction if you're doing it though! hot pixels are a bitch.
as for me, here are a few quick shots i did at a gig/vacation i had last week.

  Damn... should have tried it. I wish it had the screw in shudder mech like the old film SLR's had.... that way you don't have to hold it (Don't want to jiggle the cam)

A reminder and a show of my latest stuff: My tumblr and photoblog.

https://flarnie.tumblr.com/

Naturally it's not only my stuff on there, since the idea of tumblr is reblogging, but compared to other users I know my reblog/original material ratio is extremely small...

That's a waterfall somewhere in Yunnan province (I think it's in a town called Dali)

Also, I like taking photos on aeroplanes. No idea why.

And finally, a tree in the winter.

Canon digital ixus, and a few months of playing around and working out what looked good on the camera.

The camera looks to have really bad lens flare. I would recommend not shooting into the sun with it, as the flare just kinda distracts from what you are trying to accomplish. Do you use manual mode?

Not on those ones, no. I actually quite liked the lens flare, it just makes it look odd, and I just like the effect.

I'm wierd like that.

Guyz guyz!!!  Finally did my first Mock shoot.  We were just testing out our new lighting/backdrop setup at work today.  These are the first two I've gotten around to doing!  Lemme know what you think.

Downloaded Photomatix Pro and have been messing around with bracketed exposures and tonemapping.  Trying to find a balance between HDR and fake.  Here's two I did today.

Nice shots!  Like the dragon fly!  I just bought a nikon 105mm micro VRII, I'm in the process of trying to learn how to use it...LOL.  It's TOUGH!  I need to practice before taking it underwater.

Ok, so I just entered a contest called Capture Minnesota, which could lead to possible publication of some of my photos. I would really appreciate it if some of you could go and vote here for your favorites. I LOVE YOU ALL!

Every year in late August we have something we call a "lyskväll" here, where we light a bunch of candles by the river that runs through the city. Kind of a tradition that marks the end of the high summer, and the start of the fall. Last night I went out to try to capture this, but my lousy camera didn't quite do it justice.
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

Hey all! Sorry I haven't been posting here, life has been ridiculous lately. Here is the photography I've been up to for the last month. I started doing headshots for friends and students at my school. Pretty damn cheap too!
