Yeah, it was Hong Kong, SK, and Japan. I was in Tokyo 5 days.

Tokyo is an interesting city, but personally I prefer the Japanese countryside better. The north island of Hokkaido is one of my fav places to visit.

I definitely love the nature of Japan (spent some time up in the Alps north of Nagoya both times I visited) but I love the madness of the city as well.

Those look pretty cool. Did you color grade them? Or did the blue/yellow happen naturally?

Also this isn't unique, but here's my eclipse photo!

First of all, WOW @ your photo...

As for mine, I only made some very minor color adjustment on Lr and nothing else. The street lights in my area more or less appear in that color naturally, I simply removed much of the orange and raised the blue hue a little.

I'm thinking about getting a wide angle lens to get my interest in photography up again. Anybody here have one and would like to share some thoughts/pics?

Sadly I don't have a dedicate wide angle prime yet. What kind of body do you have? Right now I just use my 24-70, which I did use to take this photo at the last con I went to.

I decided to buy a Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6. This is one of the pics I took with it.

Taking a few days off and staying in Canal Park on Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota. Took this shot from our hotel room balcony. The rainbow lasted only a few minutes, but it was really cool to see.

It is so hard to take photos of rainbows. For whatever reason the human eye gets the contrast much better than cameras.

I'm guessing that quite a lot of the colours in the rainbow might fall outside the gamut of typical cameras or monitors.

Hello DTF Photographers.

So I am a total newb with photography and this is still a bit newb of a question, but I just upgraded from using my phonoe camera to a point and click camera I bought on sale at costco.  I got a Panasonic Lumix ZS60.   My main use for it will be to bring to concerts with me, but other uses is for travel photography.  Nothing fancy.  I chose this model, not just because of the sale, but because I had read the Lumix series was good for concerts, works well in dark lighting, the 30x optical zoom is a huge bump from 8x digital zoom in a phone, and it must be better than my phone for audio (my phone sucks in this regard).

I've got to learn how to use this to the max, but was wondering if anyone had any thoughts and opinions on the model camera I've purchased as I can return it, but my goal is to put it to use this weekend.

Just took a look at its specs... and I noticed its aperture range is f/3.3 (wide) to f/6.4 (tele), so don’t expect too much in dim light. In other words, this may not be a very good choice, if you mainly shoot concerts. Unless you do not mind most of your shots are wide angle shots. I have a Sony RX100ii and iv as backups, and I usually bring either one to concerts. Their aperture is f/1.8 (wide) or f/2.8 (tele on the RX100iv). They work well in concerts. So do think about the RX100iv if it is within your budget.

Thanks for the feedback but that's about 3 times the price so not really within my budget.  It's interesting that it was advertised as working well in low lighting, but I had read reviews similar to what you wrote about the aperture not being small enough (although I am only just learning what that even means).  My own testing in my dimly lit home resulted in some not so great photos.  Been comparing to my phone Galaxy S7 and the pictures are only slightly better.  However, the zoom works great in some of my playing around with it and some of the features are kind of cool although I'm not entirely sure how useful they will be.  Im going to test it in a concert setting this weekend and if it performs well, I'll keep it otherwise I might return it.

I don't know much anything about your camera, but if you have the ability to prioritize choosing shutter speed over ISO, I would recommend it for concerts. Noisier photos are luckily a bit more acceptable with concert photography, so don't be afraid to bump that up to allow you to freeze the motion with a higher shutter speed.

I think it's just because the gradient is so smooth, and crammed into a relatively narrow space. This drops off at the red, but towards the other side it does quite well.

So recently I was tagged by a friend on fb for this "post a B&W picture every day for 7 days..." challenge. And here are the 7 pictures I shot over that period. I know I wasn't supposed to explain the thinking behind these photos, but I like breaking rules, lol! My friends who got into this challenge all went out to shoot whatever, but all of these 7 photos of mine were shot in my living of things all places on the same cabinet, lol! I usually tend to take wide angle shots, but I decided to shoot things close up for a change this time. Enjoy.

I have a 14 megapixel image that I would like to print at 36" x 24".  That results in only 128 PPI, but I am reading that 300 PPI is ideal, and 200 is a minimum.  I may just print it and see, but something that size will be >$30 or so.

It really depends on viewing distance. 200-300 PPI is great for things that are less than 2ft from your eyes, like magazine or something. But if you have a large 36x24 poster, you might not be looking at it up close. 128 PPI could be more than enough.

It's for a bedroom wall opposite the foot of the bed where there is only about 3 feet to the wall, so walking past you will be pretty close to the picture.

I've recently started taking a strong interest in analog photography, and it's been a lot of fun. Here's something I took last month with an expired film.
