Stunning pics 7sb! The lighting is absolutely supreme, it conveys a sense of suspension, as if the whole landscape was holding its breath in waiting. Bravo!  :tup

Thank you.  That is a great description of the landscape and lighting because that is truly how it felt being there during the eclipse.  It was surreal.  I was so lucky to be visiting there during that time.

That second picture of the canyon itself is absolutely gorgeous. And this is coming from someone who's been to and seen the grand canyon enough times to get sick of it.

Very true. Followed by composition, ligthing is the most important aspect of photography.

So quick question for any Canon gear experts, as I mentioned before, I had my 70-200 stolen, and I'm close to saving up for a new one, but This option was bestowed upon me today, and that was to look at the 80-200 2.8L Lens, its a lot more affordable for a not so financially lucky person like my self, but also helps me for low light photography. Is this lens a good catch if I can find one in good condition?

That was a good lens BEFORE the first gen 70-200mm L f/2.8 came along... so the answer is NO:hat

Seriously, the resale value of that older 80-200 ain't going to hold up, and in terms of image quality you are looking at a downgrade. In long run, chances are you are better off saving up for a new 70-200 regardless. I'd say the best things for you to do now are:

1) start saving up for a new 70-200 f/4 or f/2.8 IS II
2) until #1 becomes a reality, you should just rent the lens whenever you get a job. In short term that might be a good way to keep your business going at a relatively manageable cost.

You're right, the 70-200 isn't that much more, and its not like I'm shooting any hockey as the season is almost at a close so I do have time to save up, and I have booked more weddings,  :hat so the money shouldn't be an issue now, the only thing about the renting is there is no where near here to rent the lens. Which is really inconvenient.

Sure, you are in Victoria or near Vancouver, right?

Anyway, check out these companies for possible rental venders, and the latter company SHIPS the lens to your door  :hat :

I feel like if that image were to be touched up it would be a really nice image. My issue is just that...it's too blue.

To be fair, this is just my subjective opinion. I personally just don't like it as blue, but to each his own. I also think a crop would really be nice, since there really is no defined subject. But I mean, what do I know. I'm just not one for things that look like a stock filter or an untouched white balance.

EDIT: Went ahead and touched up the image a tiny bit. This is what I'd like to see from an image like this, but again it's all subjective. However, I really like this lake as a subject, which is why I cropped it.

I feel like the blue version should have a death metal band in it, while the green one looks like Dagobah.

I actually thought about doing something similar to it, but it felt very airy and fantasy like (nothing wrong with it, just not what I personally wanted from it).

So I saw a couple saying they liked the blue look, so I just added what I thought was missing, and it was mostly just a bump in the contrast :)

That's a lot less stock filter looking, and I like it a lot. Though, and this is just a personal thing, I still would want to crop it closer to the water that way we have a clear subject. But that's just me.

Looks good!

Here's something I took last night using my point and shoot.  Increased the shutter time to get the clouds and background stars (you can see several).  Figured it was the best option considering there was no way I was getting a clear shot of the moon.

EDIT: I hate photobucket, they compress hot-linked photos.  Here's the better quality pic from Flickr.  What sites do you guys use?
