I just listened to A Touch of Blessing. I really really dug it. What do?

Recreation Day.  Do it.

Advice?

Huh?  Listen to the album called Recreation Day by the band called Evergrey.  Lift your hand to the sky.  Close your ring and middle fingers against your palm.  Put your thumb across those two fingers.  Leave your index and pink fingers up.  Bob your head up and down violently.  That's about it.

No...seriously.

Recreation Day is their best album and is one of the best of the genre. Amazing vocals, guitars, keys and amazing drumming.  Great songs and very heavy yet with memorable, beautiful melodies.

After that, get In Search For Truth, then Inner Circle, then the live DVD, then Solitude, Dominance, Tragedy, then Monday Morning Apocolypse, then Dark Discovery, then Glorious Collision, then Torn.

I must say, Recreation Day had the most amazing drumming.  I miss Patrick Carlsson, after he left, the band lost quality.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Recreation Day was the first one I got and I was blown away but after a few years I must say that The Inner Circle is overall the better, more solid album that stands the test of time better.
I miss the keyboards of those two albums.

Advice?

I actually don't own any album by them, which one is seen as their magnum opus around here?

Recreation Day.  Anybody who tells you anything different is a liar.

I listened to Recreation Day. I didn't really dig it, but I was also in a pretty weird state when listening so don't listen to me. Ever.

Ariich is often right about things.  This is one of the few times he's not.

This.  While ATOB is one of Evergrey's top 5 songs, even know it's awesome, the rest of the album doesn't live up to that song IMO.

I saw and hung out with Evergrey back on the 27th of September for the first, and sadly (Most likely) last time. All the guys are so gracious for their fans and are awesome to hang out with.

Tom also did a drunken Station I.D. for my show that I couldn't appreciate more.

Recreation Day is one of my favorite albums of all time. Every other album is fucking awesome, but Recreation Day is their best.

Haven't noticed this thread. I guess posting Evergrey in the "saddest song ever" thread sparked me to look harder.  :lol Thought I'd chime in and say I've been on a huge Evergrey kick lately. Been listening to Recreation Day the most. Still can't decide if I like it or Inner Circle better.

Anywho, phenomenal band.  :metal

Not at all. Check out "In Search of Truth" and "Recreation Day". That's Evergrey at their peak. It was around Torn where I started losing interest.

No, and Torn is by far their weakest album.

Is there still a band or is it just TE now?

No, can't find any info on what they're doing at the moment. Damn that band has lost a lot of good members the past couple of years, i have my suspicions that Tom may not be the easiest person to work with. I still rank In Search Of Truth very high, it's an awesome album!

The band pretty much died for me after TiC. Up until that it was a constant improvement in album quality, imo, but after it - an even higher drop. I hope they are using this time well and when they do decide to release something it's worth it.

They released an album last year that was a step in the right direction.  It's not like they've fallen off the face of the Earth like the last few posts suggested.

Yeah they're still together, but I think all the band members were replaced a year or two ago except the keys player and of course Tom. I haven't listened to anything since Torn.

'Glorious Collision', was Feb 2011, and I didn't even know they had released it until yesterday.
It seems the band has been suffering from the revolving door of exiting members and that the music has suffered?

I thought it was last year.  My last two years of grad school are a blur and I remember it was released early in the year.  Still, 2 years isn't that long of a time between albums, and IIRC they did tour a little after the album came out.
