I just read in an interview that they shot a video for "The Impossible", and I am honestly baffled beyond belief.

I am a huge fan of this band, but what in the fuck are they thinking?? It's like they intentionally pick songs that shouldn't
have videos. I guess we can expect yet another video without the band in it.

The Impossible is a short ballad, right? Yeah, this is weird.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Yes, just Tom and piano. It's just a little over three minutes long. I honestly don't even consider it a "song" per se.
It's almost like a segue to a song.

I just can't fathom why they felt this needed to be a video. These guys leave me pounding my head on my
desk when it comes to their video choices.

It's not so much the length (although it's definitely long) I was referring to. It was more the terminology used throughout it.

Non-musicians will likely be completely baffled reading this review.

It's more like a breakdown analysis someone would do for a assessment or something.  Completely not needed IMO and most of what is written is pointless unless you have heard the record.

So, the next video is "Passing Through". Debuts later today.

Again, they continue to baffle me beyond belief with their video choices.  :\

Wow, Passing Though is bloody awesome!

Damn, Tom's lead playing is so underrated.  That first solo which is him is brilliant.

Wait until you hear the solo for "Disconnect". He tapped in to his inner David Gilmour for it.

"Passing Through" has grown on me a lot since the first time I heard it, but I still wish "My Allied Ocean"
had been up for consideration for a video. That song just kicks ass from the very start, and never lets up.

Can't wait.  That was the only let down with Hymns is that Tom had hardly any solos on it, and if he did, they were short as hell.  Hoping for a bit more this time around.

Picked up the vinyl picture disc today, and it wasn't cheap by anyone's (even by AFM rip off prices) prices.
After the dreadful opener, which is not only Evergrey's worst ever opener, could by my least liked EG song ever.
If I skip that, the rest of the album is very solid indeed, it's everything I always loved about the band.

Same here, and if I were to pick out one thing specifically that turns me off about the song, it's the chorus.

The rest of the album definitely has some great moments, though.

Wow I find that a bit harsh, I agree that the song ain't the best opener they've done but the chorus is really epic, especially the child choir part gives me chills. It certainly have grown on me.

That's one of my favorites on the album, I've gotta say.

This is an improvement over the previous album. The approach is almost identical, but there's more diversity, some faster songs truly help the album being more dynamic. It's also fairly strong melodically.

I love the opening song

The only thing I don't love on the album is them saying someday, someday as a chorus on track 3. I love the rest of the album though

I really like Distance a lot.

Yeah yet another new album that skips by the AU release date for no good reason.
Even Utopia didn't have it on Friday.
Though I have heard that AFM are getting a local distributor, so prices should be lower and better availability.

Bonus track, cover of Paranoid is killer.

That would be a telltale sign that online is the way to go.  JB have it on the website but only as a special order, so don't think we'll see it around anywhere.

My CD hasn't arrived yet, but I've been listening online.  I'm really enjoying the new album.  Tom's lyrics always strike a chord with me.  And I gotta say, Rik Zander is probably my favorite keyboardist since Kevin Moore.  Rik is great at playing within the song and not being overly flashy.  One of my favorite parts is the loopy keyboard sound he plays at the end of "The Storm Within."  Oh, baby.  Has anyone heard his solo album?  Is it worth checking out?

I think my favourites at the moment are Disconnect and the title track. The solos, melodies, vocals, lyrics and music, those two tracks are filled with so much emotions.

So far I'm enjoying the album.  It's not quite as good as the last one, but that's an awfully high bar.

The child choir is a nice touch, yes, but my issue is with just the melody line itself. Strangely, there's a few other songs where I like everything but the chorus.
However, I've warmed up quite a bit more to "Passing Through" (great chorus there) and "Paradox of the Flame" in the last few listens. I especially love the guitar solo in "Paradox of the Flame". It's short, very simple, but incredibly emotive.

Overall, I still think it's a fantastic album.

Everygrey are touring with Delain. I hope they announce US dates soon, and I hope there's a AZ date, and I hope I can actually go. I've missed so many concerts lately due to lack of funds.

So, the video for "The Impossible" debuts Thursday, and they start shooting the video for "In Orbit" with Floor Jansen today.
