Emppu was actually one of the most cool guys there. At one point he was right in front of me and was pointing out how hot he was so I pretending to blow cool air on him and he laughed and thanked me. So you can tell your sister that I kind of blew Emppu.

I also got his guitar pick.

She can touch me if she wants.

Agreed. Its interesting that they manage to play different songs with a singer who wasn't in the band a few weeks ago.

Damn that was hot. I could not imagine Annette trying to pull that off. One beef... too many samples. Play the damn music already! There was like a whole minute where they were just sampling the studio mix.

Is there any band that would benefit more from a full orchestra/choir complemented performance? I'm thinking Black Symphony type deal... would clearly need to be filmed Finland, but damn that would be awesome.

Yea Nightwish is (I think anyway) more successful than Within Temptation and likely have a higher budget so I'm confused as to why they've never tried to do a symphony show.

Also the samples are sadly necessary. I mean there's just no way Tuomas can play the orchestral parts on the keys without them sounding cheesy, tiny and lame. However he does rely on samples too much. There were plenty of times I actually heard keyboard parts being sampled while he just held choir patch chords behind them the whole time.

I also understand that his compositions are quite complex and intricate, and brutally difficult to play on his own 100%. But this video of GLS seems to have him relying almost half on samples. Lots of orchestral runs that he's not doing.

He has relied VERY heavily on samples since DPP and progressively leading into that from CC to Once.

He is relying way too much on samples, like I said even keyboard parts are being sampled. And I understand sampling an orchestra. I mean if it's a choice between hearing a real orchestra sampled or a cheesy keyboard orchestra playing only 1 or 2 of the multiple simultaneous parts, I'd rather hear the sample.

That actually happens quite often.. since Floor is some kind of a relative of Mark Jansen... well unless she is permanent with Nightwish of course.. which is not that likely...
