Any fans?

I just got back from seeing them live for the first time.  What an incredible show.  Probably the second best show I've been to this year (second only to Marillion weekend).

Their studio albums are pretty good, but the live show totally surpasses anything that they do on record.  Great sound, great performance, great light show... and everything combines to just create an awesome overall experience.

They sound like The Decemberists' love child with The Mars Volta to me. I'm intrigued, but haven't really delved in depth. Other than their new album, what do you recommend to get into them?
HOLY MARY MOTHER OF GOD!!!!!  THIS is why LHK is the President of Awesome.

Why is everything you post the best thing ever said?  :lol

LHK is beyond EPIC.

The only album of theirs that I really know is Frengers, but that's the one that sold me on them.  If I recall, I think kári is fan... I'm pretty sure his mention of them was what first directed me towards them, so maybe he has more insight than I do.  I think my favorite song of theirs is probably "Snow Brigade"

But this is a pretty decent representation of what its like to experience them live ("am i wry? no":

I can't really give an opinion on the lastest album because I have only listened to it a few times. (just put it on now though)
Anyway, I definitely recommend Frengers, since it's what got me into Mew.

My roomate showed me the video for "156" and I was hooked.  I have Frengers and No More Stories and they are both excellent, so you can't go wrong with either of them.

This.

In a way it's because when you see them live it's amazing. However, you then go home and :sadpanda:

Another reason to love them?   Ridiculously awesome (and bizarre) t-shirts!

Just showed up in the mail for me:

bump from the afterdead

I decided to pick up No More Stories today.

Upon listening to the first track while driving back home, I was all, "GIVE ME ONE GOOD REASON NOT TO THROW YOU OUT THE WINDOW, MEW ALBUM"

and then the second track came on and I was like, "Oh, okay."
