Clouds Taste Metallic is great too.

I really tried to like that album, but outside of a couple songs, it just didn't do a lot for me.  Like most of their pre-Soft Bulletin material.  It's like they became a different band, like Mindflux said.

My personal favourite is Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.

The bulk of that one took a bit of time to grow on me, but I love it to death now.  The mood and atmosphere in One More Robot/Sympathy 3000-21 is just incredible. :hefdaddy :hefdaddy

Great live show too.

Yep.  I know I've said this before, but I'll say it again: if someone goes to a Flaming Lips show and doesn't have a blast, there is something wrong with them.

Yeah I love that track. It has that humourous cheesiness to it that I love and it's just a great little tune.

I've never heard a note from this band, but I'll never forget that just prior to getting to chat with him a bit myself on my first time meeting him, I got to overhear Steven Wilson chatting with Portnoy about this band.

New song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR0kjG-uab4

Not sure what to think of that.  I did chuckle at the effects that sounded like the old Ms. Pac Man game. :lol  But the Lips material often has that "Woah, what they did just do?" effect on me at first, so we shall see.  That is just a bonus track, so the new album will be the test.

Depending on where you start, it's quite a jarring experience. I do like a handful of songs but if you really like Dark Side Of The Moon stay as far away from their cover album of it as possible.

So I just listened to the new album and I like it a whole lot. You can tell they were really inspired by Krautrock when they recorded it. Overall, it's a vast improvement over Embryonic imo.

Hmmmm, considering how good Embryonic was, this one ought to be really good.  Can't wait to hear it. :hat

The official release date was kicked back two weeks here in the States, so it is now coming out on April 16th, but I have my early copy thanks to a friend. ;)  It is quite a trip...sounds like music that would be awesome to get high to. :lol

Isn't that just most of their music in general?

Despite the drama over firing their drummer a few months back, I am still looking forward to seeing them tonight! :hat

And while I like the newest album, it never really grabbed me that much, but I see they are only playing two or three songs from it at most shows, so that's good, I suppose.  I'll take plenty of songs from The Soft Bulletin, Yoshimi..., At War... and Embryonic, please. :)

Oh, I know.  I have seen them twice already and needed an extra pair of boxers each time. :lol :lol

Sure, their show is choreographed beyond belief and has a million backing tracks, but I say, so what?  Their show wouldn't be nearly as amazing if they played a stripped down set with nothing but live instruments.

Odd show.  The first half was totally awesome, but then they played two songs from the newest album, neither of which went over well, causing them to lose the crowd a bit, and they never really got it back.  It didn't help that they ended the set with A Spoonful Weighs a Ton (great song, but not a good set ender), and then the encores were Do You Realize? (with a different arrangement) and their cover of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds (which they slowed down too much, even singing the chorus at snail's pace).  Fortunately, the first half included Watching the Planets, In the Morning of the Magicians, & Feeling Yourself Disintegrate (this was awesome to see!).

Oh, and they were a 7-piece this time, so there were hardly any backing tracks used this time around.
