From Arjen-
"I’m very proud to tell you that for the very first time the new Ayreon album will be released with a genuine 25-page comic book! It’s illustrated by the renowned artist Félix Vega. Here is a sneak peek, the pages are animated by David Letelier. Hope you like it as much as this nerd here does!"

it's set in 1884...

Maybe about how The Migrator Soul became The Final Experiment.

Maybe it's related in the way The Human Equation was. As in, not really.

I noticed this, exactly 200 years before 2084, a pivotal year in the Ayreon timeline. I'm sure it'll be loosely connected to the main story somehow, unlike TTOE.

Haha, yeah exactly.

The comic is a neat new idea though. Definite buy from me.

I really like the direction this is going, it feels fresh kinda like The Human Equation did back in the day. I'm sure he connects it all in some way.

And if it doesn't connect, fine by me. Just hope he doesn't do the 1-2 minute tracks like on TTOE.

Also, was that Floor in the last video sample? Kind of generic, but it sounds a bit like Floor's timbre.

Read in a FB reply this morning that apparently Arjen said Floor wasn't on this album, so maybe someone who sounds like her?

Yea, it was a generic enough operatic moment and could be a ton of people, but just sounded Floorish.

Either way, super pumped!

Me, on the other hand, I really enjoyed those super short "songs". I can listen to my favorite parts when I don't have much time.

Maybe Dianne Van Giersbergen? I think her operatic vocals could sound like that. Also, she was on the lastest live album.

Random recent song with her that has her doing some operatic vocals:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhkY7FYJK3c

I think she is a great singer.

And do we think the comic book characters will look somewhat similar to the singers?

In that case, in the realm of prog/metal singers Tommy kind of seems like a no-brainer.

Other than that I think I see Simone Simons and perhaps Amanda Sommerville? And one of them gives off a Alissa White-Gluz vibe (but without the blue and/or white hair).

Not really a fan of narration on music albums. Well, we'll see how it goes.

I can get why his (or any) voice isn't someones taste, but bland is a term I would not associate with him, he has a pretty unique tone and is super recognisable, even compared to pop/rock singers with a similar approach to singing.

And I agree with Adami, I am hoping for some non-belters/lower pitched vocals as well.

Signed.

Is this the album where we finally get a JP guest solo? JR was on, JLB was on... it's time. They even met in person very recently on that guitar award ceremony thing.

Derek Sherinian also had a keyboard solo on 01011001, and Jordan Rudess on The Theory Of Everything.

I've always wanted to hear JP do a solo in an Ayreon album. James has been on TWO Ayreon albums so far, beating his fellow DT band mates for appearances. If no JP, I'd be happy to hear another Rudess keyboard solo on the new album!

Yeah, I forgot about Derek entirely, he has been on as well.

If not JP, why not the wild card, JMX coming in hot with a bass solo! Well, probably not, though who knows. Kevin would also probably do it if he liked the song, most of his guest spots have been in prog metal and for bands much smaller than Ayreon.

Hoping for another Michael Romeo solo. Was not that much of a fan of his last one, but the one in Dawn of a Million Souls is still one of his best works ever.

Watched the first three songs of ITEC Live while working out last night.  Mother of god, what an amazing production.  And everyone is top notch.  Simone replacing Sharon was about as perfect a choice as could have been made.

Looking forward to watching the rest today.

Honestly, Arjen really knew how to utilize the best out of James vocally. So I wouldn't mind JLB agian. Would be cool hearing JP do a solo.

I'd love him to get more singers that weren't on Ayreon before. I love Tommy and I'm sure he'll be great as usual, but I hope Arjen won't re-use the singers too much.
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Not looking forward to more Tommy at all. TTOE has a really annoying set of singers and he's my least favorite.

Yeah, this, basically. Technically marvelous, but I really do not enjoy his incessant melismatic delivery. It just doesn't serve the music imo
