A great kind of personal inteview with Arjen:

4:33! That´s how everybody should listen to music!  :rollin

I mentioned on Facebook that I've never noticed before how he gets a similar look in his eyes when he talks about music as Steve Harris from Maiden does.
Sometimes there's a real likeness there. Also loved the jogging and 'listening position' part...

Just bought "Timeline" after checking out "Actual Fantasy" and "Into the Electric Castle" on Youtube.  I am eagerly awaiting its arrival.

Took me awhile to get into Ayreon actually, checked them out a couple years ago but the multiple vocalists turned me off initially(I think I listened to 01011001) but came back to it again after the new solo album and learning about Actual Fantasy Revisited having a 5.1 Mix.

Has anyone gotten "Into the Electric Castle" or the new solo album on Vinyl? I am planning on getting both of those along with some Ayreon CDs at CMDistro while they are having their summer sale.

Lost in the New Real is pretty good.  :)

Not as good as his Ayreon albums, but better than his other projects, in my opinion.  And my god, I thought Ayreon albums were cheesy, but this is the cheesiest thing I've ever heard.  I laughed out loud when I heard the death metal growls come in saying, "PARENTAL PROCREATION PERMIT!!"  Arjen is a funny man.

The entire thing positively OOZES cheese, but it's Arjen so I've gotten pretty good at looking past it. It's a pretty solid album.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

It's refreshing to see an artist who is able to not take himself too seriously and do hilarious things like that.

It's probably the most deserving, really. Probably the catchiest song on the album after E-Police.

There are a handful of tracks I could see it happening too, and yeah, this is definitely one of them. Though since you mention E-Police, I think he could have done a funny video with that.

hey don't kill me for this but
most of the original disc 2 material is better than most of  the disc 1 material IMO

I mean it's all at least good but a lot of the disc 2 songs are way superior to the disc 1 ones, minus the closer.

I pretty much agree, but half of the disc 2 songs are covers.

Simple question: The solo album is done so what do you think Arjen will do next?

Star One?
Ayeron!?
Ambeon?
Guilt Machine?
Another solo album?
Rejoin Vengeance or Stream of Passion?  :)
Or something entirely new?

I hope it's another Ayreon or Star One, and hopefully one of them includes Russell Allen because I want to hear him sing instead of wasting and damaging his voice on SX/AM.

I'd be thrilled with another Ayreon or Star One album - I love both of the Star One albums and have really enjoyed the last several Ayreon albums.  I have to admit "Lost In The New Real" was pretty disappointing after all of the hype  :(
