On my way back home now..... waiting for the gate to open at Shiphol.

My god what a show it was!!!
Two great additions that came as total surprises.
First Robby Valentine as a guest on the Grand Piano and then the addition of Kayleigh for Fish to sing in the Other Stories.

Amazing stage setup, great musiscians, fantastic singers and I liked the narrator too.

Soo many highlights but
- Anneke van Giersbergen on Valley of the Queens (wow!!!)
- Anneke again on Shores of India from the Gentle Storm
- Marcela Bovio on Out in The Real World
- Simone Simons on Ashes from Smbeon
- Arjen on Pink Beatles in a Purple Zeppelin from Lost in the New Real
- the ending with everyone and the audience on Songs of the Ocean

Frickin amazing show..... now I want the BlueRay soon!!!

I will say Ashes was one of the show highlights for me. I'm so glad it wasn't cold metal, I can't stand that song, but Ashes is probably my favourite song from Ambeon. Never thought I will see it live.

The biggest surprises for me were Kayleigh, obviously, and also the narration. I didn't think it would be that different. Oh, and the balloons during the Pink Beatles, that was awesome because I was in the front twice and they fell right on our line. :lol
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

I'm just dipping my toe in the Ayreon waters, but that looks and sounds just plain AWESOME.  I'm kind of jealous.

I'm assuming that's Fish on "The Decision Tree"; who is he singing with?

The original singer fit that role wasn’t there. This guy is John Jaycee Cuijpers. He was also on Ayreon universe singing Russel Allen’s parts. The dude is really incredible.

It was soo awesome.... one of the best shows I have ever seen

The BluRay will probably take about a year to release I guess.

Next show (if there will be one and if the same schedule as previously is still valid) will be in September of 2021..... what it will be.... who knows?
Perhaps a new album?
Perhaps The Theory of Everything?

Musically, the show was amazing (as expected with this lineup). I loved the narration and the stage design was fantastic, with the physical "castle" and all the amazing projections. I especially loved the animated integration of the art by Jef Bertels (and man, that artwork was beatiful seeing it in person in the gallery). All the little/not-so-little deviations were good (use of grunters, ending of the album with all singers, the piano solo etc.).

My track highlights of the overall show were:
-Garden of Emotions
-Cosmic Fusion
-Evil Devolution
-Shores of India
-Twisted Coil

No, I'm not jealous, No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous,No, I'm not jealous.

Technically, Ayreon has been performing every year for the last three years, as they were on Graspop in 2018. Maybe he will do another festival show next year (I think a mashup between his last shows would be amazing in a festival setting). I assume he will have a new album out by the time the next concert is announced.

Also, I do hope we will get the Graspop footage/audio in the future (I assume they did record it). There were some cool variations on the Ayreon Universe show, namely the different vocalists Tom Englund, Simone Simons, Mark Jansen, and Barry Hay (performing Radar Love/Sail Away From Avalon).

I was half joking, knowing that this format takes a lot of preparation and will not likely be finished within a year. That said, the Theory Of Everything in this format would be a wet dream come true for me.

They confirmed another festival show for 2020, this time at the Night of the Prog festival in Germany. Into the Electric Castle in full plus some extras, with most of the original artists again.

Ayreon - Into The Electric Castle Live And Other Tales - Trailer

*Throwing money at my screen*

That wooden box set looks NICE, but EXPENSIVE. I can only imagine it costs at least $150, but I *really* want it. Ugh, I wish I wasn't so poor right now...

At any rate, as someone who didn't get to go to the show, this was a brilliant trailer, a wonderful look into what the shows were like, so I can't wait to experience it on blu-ray! The past two live Ayreon releases (THE and AU) were some of the best live concert videos I've watched in years, so I expect this to be on-par, if not better than them!

I'm guessing the wooden box is a lot more expensive than 150 bucks :/ If anything, I'm going to go with the golden vinyl.

Yeah, that's kind of why I said that. For $150 it would be a no-brainer for me, even though the shipping will probably add another $30-50.

Wow, that looks epic! My favorite Ayreon album so, needless to say, I am super psyched for this.

Nice to see Marcela up there too as I know she is dealing with cervical cancer right now. Wasn't sure the timing of all of that.

Due to my love for this album, I may need to practice some restraint depending on package prices.
beul ni teh efac = Lube In The Face / That has to be wrong.  :lol / EDIT: Oh, it's Blue! I'm an idiot.
Pardon the interruption, but I just had to run in and celebrate the majesty of Lube in the Face as highest moment in roulette history

This was in September and she wasn't diagnosed until later. I do think she started to feel the symptoms in September though (I support her on Patreon). Poor Marcela..... she is too young to have to go through this, hope the treatment is successful.

One highlight of the show was seeing her sing Out In The Real World (Stream of Passion).... soo good

Yea, fuck cancer.  I hope Marcella is doing well.

That was in september, kind of wish I had my other arm around her, obviously I had no idea then and she probably didn't either, but it makes me sad to know she's dealing with cancer and this was shortly before it all.
