It should be noted: Interviewer was a robot. I like interviews like this because you know more of what went into making the album when listening to it. It's very true what he said about women and DT in part III.

Can't watch the youtube links here at work, but that track listing has my mouth watering.

That's been fixed up apparently. Was something to do with the free poster, but JR contacted the company about it and apparently sorted it out.

DREAM THEATER keyboarist Jordan Rudess has recorded solo piano versions of some of the band's favorite ballads as well as creating some original, progressive piano pieces for a new CD called "Notes On A Dream".

A three-part interview with Rudess about the effort can be viewed below.

"Notes On A Dream" track listing:

01. Through Her Eyes
02. Lifting Shadows Off a Dream
03. Perpetuum Mobile
04. The Silent Man
05. Another Day
06. Hollow Years
07. The Grand Escapement
08. The Spirit Carries On
09. Speak To Me
10. The Answer Lies Within
11. Collision Point
12. Vacant

Jordan Rudess' last solo CD, "The Road Home", was released in 2007. Having been influenced by classic progressive acts such as GENESIS, YES and GENTLE GIANT, Rudess revisited some of the great songs from those bands with his own special Jordan Rudess touch. He was assisted on "The Road Home" by a great group of guests, such as Nick D'Virgilio (SPOCK'S BEARD), Kip Winger (WINGER), Rod Morgenstein (WINGER), Ed Wynne (OZRIC TENTACLES), Bumblefoot (GUNS N' ROSES), Marco Sfogli (JAMES LABRIE), Ricky Garcia (LAFEE) and several others.

I'll post a link to the forum thread containing the purchase link and the youtube links for the interview.

I've heard most of the album over the course of its recording (maybe all of it, not sure), and it's great stuff.

I think they fixed the digital download, but if you buy the digipack, you're still getting raped on shipping.

I was willing to pay the $10 for shipping because I got the free poster.

Is it crazy that I bought/pre-ordered it AND got the digital download?!

Now I'm off to listen to this on my car-ride out today... reviews later!

This, especially since Speak to Me is probably my favorite cut song from FII.  Hopefully instead of a keytar solo, JR can do one of these "covers" instead for the live show.

EDIT: https://jordanrudess.shop.musictoday.com/Product.aspx?cp=566_16796&pc=JUDD01

Samples of the songs at the bottom of the page.  Also, it seems that if you buy digitally, you don't have to wait for content...might be cheaper than paying outrageous shipping costs, especially if you're an audiophile and love .flacs.

I believe the high shipping costs are due to the poster being included, after the first 50 go I would assume shipping falls to about $4.

I really think it is going to sound like the Christmas CD. Just replace the Carols at one billion notes per beat with DT songs at billion notes per beat... at least on the first songs. After Hollow Years it sounds more mellow, which I like.

Tracklist is AWESOME, I think it must have been really fun for him to do this as most of the songs are ones he didn't play on, so he would have been able to get deeper into them and do a new and fresh interpretation. I think I may buy this now.

Will watch the interviews later :)
The band describing John Myung:
JLB: "He's deep. He's deep in thought"
JP: "We have a deep understanding musically"
JR: "John Myung is a very deep kind of person"
MP: "John Myung is an enigma... N he's deep as fuck yo'"

Downloading the FLAC version now. Rudess' piano work recently has been awesome, so looking foward to hearing this one. :D

EDIT: holy crap, The Silent Man is my new favourite version of it. Great playing and arrangements. Looking forward to Speak to Me.

So I got a chance to listen to each track at least twice on my car rides around town today...

This is a refreshing take on DT with JR's personal touch. Some might find his noodling a bit excessive, but I think it suits the mood and his playing style.

I love how "Vacant" and "The Answer Lies Within" turned out.

What puzzles me is the lack of SDOIT tracks ("Goodnight Kiss" or "Disappear" anyone?). We get 1 from IAW ("Wait For Sleep" would've been sweet but I can understand why it wasn't included), 2 from Awake (thankfully no SDV), 2 from FII (including "Speak To Me"), 2 from SFAM, and one each from TOT and 8VM. None of the tracks from WDADU and SC would really be applicable to this sort of recording, so it's understandable why there are no tracks from those albums (although "To Live Forever" would've been interesting).

This will definitely fill in the time between now and the release of BC&SL!

See I love when he noodles on a piano way way more than his synth stuff. He could probably play the same notes on some of his cringeworthy synth solos on piano and it'd sound really good. Those damn patches make it sound like crap.
