I think the only reason why Ghost Opera isn't really loved that much around here is because it's the 3rd or 4th album with the same mood/sound they've done. For a new Kamelot fan it's probably a really awesome album, but for old fans it's just nothing that new. That said, it's still a great CD.
Pretty much this exactly!

Well I can hardly argue with that seeing as I'm a new fan.

Same here, new fan.  I also really like The Fourth Legacy.  Quite a different sound.  I ordered thier DVD on Ebay for like 12 bucks.  From what I hear, it is very good and the tracklist looks awesome.

Wasn't a fan. First 3 or 4 songs are good. Then it just seems to lose any drive or energy. Kamelot without energy is like nickelback with the lameness, it's just not right.

Expeditions or whatever is good. Short, but good. However, if you can get the newer one (DVD) get it, it's purely amazing.

I thought the opposite. Love You To Death is easily the best song on the album.

Absolutely.

2nd best song by Kamelot IMO.

Memento Mori takes the top spot for me.

By the way, new Kamelot album is coming out March (22nd? sometime in March).  No details on title/artwork/tracklisting yet, but I think they will be coming soon.

So, I got my first Kamelot album a couple weeks ago (Ghost Opera). It was good but nothing spectacular. Anthem is a very beautiful song though. The singer can get a bit over-dramatic sometimes, but it's alright.

The Black Halo is their best work, and probably the best power metal album ever. Memento Mori and March of Mephisto are pure sex.

I love Ghost Opera.  I have a constant inner battle over whether I prefer the Black Halo or not.

One Cold Winter Night is my favorite concert DVD.  Just great performance and well produced all around.  Khan puts on such a great performance.  Also has a reall good track list.

I'm sorry if this offends anyone hear, but I'm about halfway through Ghost Opera (on "Mourning Star"), and I'm not impressed by it. I think it's bland power metal, right next to Stratovarius' Elements, Pt. 1. It might take a few listens to get comfortable with me, but the only slightly enjoyable song was "Ghost Opera." Bands like Iced Earth and Symphony X didn't come off like this, and DragonForce kinda did, so maybe it's just that I don't like some flavors of power metal.

First off, Elements pt. 1 is some good shit.

Secondly, Ghost Opera is definitely bland compared to some of their earlier albums.

Yeah, Kamelot are pretty unique as far as power metal goes. The Black Halo or The Fourth Legacy are probably better places to start. Although it took me a while to get into TFL.

Or OCWN is glorious. That's One Cold Winter's Night, the live album. Fantastic.

(That said, I do really dig Ghost Opera, nice dark vibe - it just feels a bit more like a collection of cool songs than a particularly outstanding album.)

Itching for info about the new album, now. It's getting a bit close to release.

Kamelot sound nothing like any other power metal band. They have nearly none of the characteristics. The drum patterns, key choices, darker themes and vocal styles are all different from what we've come to accept as the power metal template.
I don't particularly like power metal, but I love Kamelot.
