I've really been trying to get more into PT and Symphony X more, though.

My default suggestion is always "start with In Absentia." I feel it's the most accessible, and it's also my go-to album whenever I've got nothing else I'd rather listen to.

@PixelDream: Well, yes and no! The album isn't out for another couple of weeks, but I saw them live on Friday and they were selling copies early! :D

It's amazing though, not as fun as the last two, a little slower and more brooding in places, but there's so much great stuff on it. Wasn't sure on first listen but it's been growing on me fast!

I've been listening to a lot of new music lately, so I haven't had much time to focus on specific albums. As such, I can only name two:

Porcupine Tree - The Incident
Transatlantic - The Whirlwind

OK man, that's awesome. They must be great live, aren't they?

My favorite album is 'Are You Shpongled?' followed by the rest, in chronological order. It's all good though. Not too obsessed with 'Nothing Lasts', so I hope this new album is a 'return to form'. Well, I thought there wouldn't even be one, so I'm glad there's new Shpongle to digest.

Anyway, on topic:

Universeeee in a ball! The new Devin Townsend freakin' rocks and sounds like a giant spaceship. I can't believe this guy can be inspired by an average rock band (Nickelback) and churn out stuff like this.

As for the rest, still playing The Incident and the whole PT back catalogue. My brother is half obsessed with them now, which is weird because he used to be totally into shitty R&B and hiphop. His favorite song is 'Arriving Somewhere but Not Here'. How could I possibly complain about this..?
Not 'Down To F***', but 'Dream Theater Forums' .

Redemption - Snowfall on Judgement Day (probably my album of the year in a very strong year)
Transatlantic - The Whirlwind
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain

I got each of them in the last month, so it's not surprising they are getting heavy rotation, but they are beating the other 7 albums I got in the last month right now.

I can think of another 3

Redemption - Snowfall on Judgement Day
Muse - The Resistance
Tommorow's Eve - Tales from Serpentia

These three are pretty much my "waiting for the bus" playlist.
