How many songs do you know?

I am getting to a point where I know most of JP's standard tuned songs, and I am having a hard time remembering them all. As I am working more on the more difficult ones, I tend to forget the simpler songs. Anyone else have this problem?

I haven't learned another artist's song in years.  I can probably play a lot of common songs if requested, but if I had to make a list or something of songs I know, it would be very short.

I had this problem a while back until I managed to wrote them all in a book. I think it's the only way to remember everything, at least it is for me.

I don't know so much, at the moment I don't care. I'm always wanting to learn riffs instead of complete songs.

The title and the OP ask different things. . .

I know a lot of songs chord-wise, due to church. DT-wise, I know a few songs on guitar, keys, and bass, but most of those are not fully learned, with the exception of a few on bass, like SoC or I Walk Beside You.

I can still plug through some of the songs I learned starting out, but the problem is, when learning more difficult songs, you need to keep practicing at them or else they disappear, and you have to relearn them. I had that problem with Constant Motion and Metropolis.

I'm not really talking about songs you learn when starting playing an instrument, those are generally not difficult to remember. To use myself as an example, for the past few weeks I have been concentrating on The Count of Tuscany, In the Presence of Enemies and Erotomania, and I'm finding myself forgetting songs like Lines in the Sand and Overture 1928. I have them all transcribed on Guitar Pro though, so I can still play them, just not from memory each time.

I have a fiendishly good memory, but yeah, I get what you mean.

I wish I could remember all the songs I used to learn when I started playing guitar in 01/02. Now I just practice improv, and learn songs my guitarist gives me, and the occasional cover song.

well i play in two cover bands that do completely different songs, one is classic rock, the other is modern rock/metal, so i'm gonna guess including the other random songs i've learned for the hell of it i probably know about 150-200 songs.  a lot of the them are pretty easy though and i improv the leads that aren't that memorable.

I know probably 150-200 songs or so, but most of them are fairly simple, and I play mainly rhythm guitar.

Hundreds I'd think. I'm a vocalist, so you know, remembering the words and melodies isn't too hard.

As a guitarist, again, quite a few. I know the majority of the catalog from most of my favorite artists as well as the dozens of original songs I write every year for my band.

Seeing as I'm trained primarily in classical music, I don't know very many songs by heart, but I can site read almost any simple song, and with the music in front of me I could probably play almost every song I've ever learned, with very little practice (if any).
I only ever really know the songs I'm learning at the moment by heart.

I probably know about 100 metalcore songs, 10-11 Dream Theater songs, and several classic rock/modern rock songs on bass. I love having a good memory and all i need to do is to listen to the song and i can remember the parts.
