I have already my tickets for seeing them in June dammit, but regretable the whole swine flu thing that has been attacking Mexico in the recent days has to say yet whether they make some changes in massive concert schedules and such.  :sadpanda:

I have to say I was not blown away by Death Magnetic. Even under all the digitally distorted  and un-dynamic sound there is a weak album ( imo ) . That was Just Your Life and Suicide and Redemption being few highlights.

I can't believe they had FIFTY cd's of songs ready to be whittled down and they Still ended up with Unforgiven 3.

S&R is probably my least liked song from this album, TWJYL is definitely a highlight and TU3 is a strong song, not great, not bad.

But this was definitely a step in the right direction for them.

Thank god for the Guitar Hero remaster is all I can say... what a horrible sound quality. I've heard better of live performances on youtube to be frank.

I really like Unforgiven 3! :P

Generally I think it's a really solid album. Has some less interesting songs, and the production is horrendous, but most of the music rocks and is good fun metal, heavy and melodic.

I'd like to see them live eventually, but I'm not willing to spend close to $100 at the moment, especially considering I've been "less than impressed" with James' vocals and Lars' drumming.

Nothing too original to add here. My favorite band for 15 years until I discovered DT. Hetfield has written many of the best metal songs of all time.

That is correct, not only the best lyrics but some of the best riffs ever!!

Plus, his stage presence is unmatched!

I saw them in January and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen, which is saying something since I don't even really like Metallica. (Death Magnetic is fucking sweet, though, and the old classics always make me happy)

Speaking of Jump In The Fire, I just remembered that the riff in That Was Just Your Life is essentially the JITF riff. Neat.

What part?  The main riff is built on the first four notes of the bridge in Blackened.

The opening riff of Jump In The Fire is basically the same as the riff in That Was Just Your Life which comes in at 1:27.

Maybe rhythmically but note wise - theyre completely different.

JITF = G minor
TWJYL = E minor

Different scales too. Jump in the fire is much more pentatonic while That was just your life is more chromatic if anything.

There are slight differences, but I can definitely hear the similarities. They're both great songs.

Death Magnetic is a good album. They really went crazy with the chromatic on the album, not to mention all the tritone in TWJYL.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?
