Tonight's special, Swordfish with a chayote squash, maitake mushrooms, bacon, grilled stonefruit compote, and a honey-balsamic reduction.
*snip*

I dunno what most of what you said are, but it sounds delicious.

What do we prefer: chewy bacon or crunchy bacon?

Chewy for me. As soon as bacon starts to crunch, I tend to dislike it.

King Postwhore

Crunchy, chewy gags me.

I like both, but I prefer it in the middle... not burnt to a crisp crunchy, but not limp.

Actually, that's good too. I just hate when my mom cooks bacon and she fries it to a crisp. It makes it nigh inedible.

MajorMatt

Depends on the format in which I choose to consume it. Bacon sandwiches require a higher degree of crispyness, for example. Whereas, bacon served with a full english breakfast should be more towards the chewy end of the spectrum.

So I was down at the shore two weeks ago and I nearly shit a brick when I saw this:

Sweet merciful god, was it good.

17 bucks a pound?! Fuck that, I'll rig up a double boiler and melt down some chocolate chips. I find I can usually make most things pretty well by the third time max and get at least 90% of where I wanna be by no later than the tenth time I make it.

Didn't even notice the price. Quite the ass raping.  It's probably justified though.  That looks like more than your average chocolate chip chocolate, more like some high doller designer shit that cost a stupid amount on it's own.  I had a variation of chocolate bacon once and wasn't really impressed, but I think it was a lower grade product that the one pictured.  Have to try some again.  BTW, if you do plan on trying it, I think a mild chocolate would work better than a dark, the bitterness of the dark I don't feel would work well with the smokiness of the bacon.

Good thought about the smoky/bitter clash. If I do Secret Santa this year I may have to find a way to safely ship this. BHT AHOY!!!!

QuoteNot many know this, but at one time I was a horrible mess. I was drinking excessively, smoking pot, snorting coke, hitting heroin, popping pills, and, I'm ashamed to say, selling my body for money. One day, a friend took me aside and said, "you need to get your shit straight", and he handed me a plate of bacon.

Bacon saved my life.

From the MSN homepage's Bing Shopping section: "Bacon: the gift that never goes out of style."

Emphasis on bacon flavored floss.

They're garlic cloves.

Holland onions would've been funny but a bad flavor choice.
