I can't imagine it working properly without it effecting the tone in some way.

Agreed. It might even sound pretty decent, but there's no way it sounds completely authentic.

yep. shortcuts with things like this will never end up sounding anywhere close to where they are advertised. the feel and tone of detuning changes the overall sound so much that you simply cannot emulate it.

Yes. It's too good to be true. The tone will be fucked six ways from Sunday.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

I don't think so, especially being so cheap...

I was thinking about getting a 30 watt for 200, thats pretty cheap...

Also, I know nothing about amps...here you go...

Yeah, that one doesn't have any tubes in it. Some of the other amps in the vypyr series do, though.

And I've never played through the little solid state ones, so I can't help you there.

maybe. cheap usually=bad tone, but there are always little jems out there. my old solid state had the single worst lead tone ever.

What was the point of editting the first post? I'm curious to see what this thread was about.

It was about a pedal that would drop tune your guitar then send it to your amp, never needing to change guitars...People said the tone would be fucked...

Put it this way: there's a reason musicians down-tune their guitars instead of using a pedal to drop the pitch.

Don't Variax guitars allow you to change tunings instantly?  Dustin from Thrice has a setup like this, and it seems to work very well for him.

Yeah, but those guitars are made for that kind of thing. Those guitars are basically MIDI controllers with strings on them.

Peavey Valveking is all I can think of right now. I've got the head version with a Mesa Boogie 2x12 that sounds really really good.

Cheap solid states usually sound like ass, but if you're just going to use it to practice pick the less digital and/or muddy sounding one.

Definitely a great sounding amp for the price.

Agreed. If you get one, get the bigger models, since I think the tiny ones don't even have an EQ for the preamps. But you want a bigger amp anyways so no biggie.

+1. This baby is my practice amp. It has such a nice sound that I don't play my bigger ones unless I NEED to.
