Opened for Paul Di'Anno Monday night. Was great fun! Probably the best venue I've played thus far as well.
Got to hang with Paul backstage for a while. Quite the character!

That's an excellent setlist.  Lots of forgotten classics from the first two albums.

I highly recommend checking him out on this run if you can. I mean, I'm really not sure how much longer he will be able to keep going. He was non-stop drinking, before, during and after his set, as well as chain-smoking and inquiring to me about where he might be able to get some cocaine :lol

Yeah I prefer Live After Death and Maiden England. I'm still going through the discog so next up is Live At Donington, The X Factor, etc.
I think they got better after some time though, right? Lots of people said they got back on their game after some years.

Yeah, IMO, around the No Prayer/Fear of the Dark era the live shows dropped in quality, probably a combination of everyone being burnt out from the Powerslave - Seventh Son era and the general unrest in the ranks.  Then once Blaze joined it was like watching a Maiden lookey-likey band.  The reunion was a resurgence in so many ways.  Thank God that happened.  I'd hate to think what would be left of Maiden if Bruce and H hadn't returned :/

Would it be fair to say that Iron Maiden's Bruce-era reunion is one of the best reunions of all time?

Sneak, I must say that the No Prayer tour was one of the most energized Maiden tours that I had ever seen. I saw 2 shows, one in NJ and one in Providence. The No Prayer album was weak, but the live show was not. It was a stripped down set, but Jannick was really able to pull Dave Murray out of his shell. Bruce was very into it too. He was on and off for the FOTD tour for sure, but I've always said that the No Prayer tour was one of their best.

The Ozzy/Sabbath and DLR/VH reuinions don't match up. Those were money grabbing one tour only kind of things.

The only comparable reunions could be Judas Priest or Deep Purple in 1984 (that was f##king huge BTW), but in terms of viability and success, this current Maiden run is unprecedented as far as I can tell.

Um...Rock in Rio much? Come on now. This is the definitive moment in Maiden's career I think.

Well...I don't know, it just seems like the ultimate culmination of events. Bruce was back, as well as Adrian, they were riding huge wave of resurgence, the new record kicked ass...And they top it all off with their biggest gig ever (second only their original Rock in Rio appearance, although that was as support to Queen). And you've got the definitive rendition of Fear of the Dark, which features 150,000 people SINGING the guitar parts. I mean, that shit is amazing.
