TAC will hate me for this but I really stopped listening to Maiden after Powerslave,

:lol Wki, I would never hate you! You're one of my 5 favorite posters here!

TBH, I completeky agree with you on Powerslave. I was a huge Maiden fan at the time, having already sen the World Piece Tour. I found Powerslave very contrived. I didn't care for 2 Minutes (with the ripoff Swords & Tequila, Power & The Glory, Stand Up And Shout, Flash Rockin' Man riff). I found the middle section of Powerslave too choreographed, and found the bloated Rime long for long's sake. In fact, I might've skipped the tour had Accept not been opening.

But I found Somewhere In Time very refreshing. I'm surprised you didn't. It was quite different from where they had been.

The Blaze albums are both severely flawed (though both are filled with latent greatness), and the reunion albums are all sorts of awesome. Hey, they are what they are.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Funny, but in the 80's I didn't care for Powerslave and loved Somewhere In Time. But PS has really aged well and I like it a hell of a lot more now than I did in 1985. And yes, the title track is one of their best songs. Not in my Top 10, but probably in the Top 20.

Afraid to Shoot Strangers with Blaze > Afraid to Shoot Strangers with Bruce.

Blaze "COME OOOON!" Bayley

I love how he does that in the harmony section, great stuff.

I hate it :lol

I felt it was a mixed bag.  Like you said it has aged better.  POM is the album(yea, I said album ) that still holds up for me till this day.

Listening to that still gives me goosebumps. I remember when MTV had their "World Premiere Video" for Flight Of Icarus.

I really think Maiden should take that out from those choices.  El Dorado is one of the weakest tracks on TFF but I like it better than the other nominations there.

For the first one Soundgarden are easily the best there.

Slayer/Iron Maiden
Megadeth

Sudden Death wasn't THAT good, but El Dorado and World Painted Blood are amazing.

I think El Dorado will take the cake.

If Korn or Lamb of God win, I'll will be a sad panda.

Same here, but Wrath was a bad album and should feel bad.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

TAC will hate me for this but I really stopped listening to Maiden after Powerslave, I was a huge fan of the first 2 albums and the Maiden Japan EP, the first couple with Bruce I loved and at this point Maiden was probably at their peak in popularity here in the states, but after awhile all the albums all started to sound too samey for me. The galloping basslines, the twin solos, even Bruce's delivery on the songs. I picked up both Blaze albums and one or two of the reunion albums but its still the same old same old with them. Some people love the fact that they stayed true to their sound, while others like myself wish they would have branched off and tried something different. If it wasn't for DT playing with them on the last tour I would have bypassed the tour all together. I saw them 2x on this tour PNC and MSG and actually left before the encores at MSG because I had seen it the night before.

This is my view also..well said^

I LOVE that performance.  The VHS of it is one of the first memories I have of Maiden, I watched the tape so many times I burnt it out. This is really one of my favourite performances of Maiden.  Yes it's not super tight but the band are on fire, and it's raw, really raw.  I love Davey's solos on this one, he really is on fire, and it possibly has my fav version of Evil That Men Do.

You can have 16,000 songs on you MP3 player like me but sometimes I play the same 100 albums over and over.  Piece Of Mind os one of them.  Working outside yesterday I blasted it for me and the wife.  She's loves Maiden.  Get's the blood going.

No gossip per say.  But he said his arthritis is bothering him.  He has a restaurant around the corner, and I had the BBQ burger...it was very good.  And he is playing a show here with Maiden in April, and I will be in our corporate box with free beer and food....and the bank manager (who knows him well) said she will get backstage passes for us.

I actually met him about 25 years ago.  He didn't really say or do much other than drink from a bottle of Beam and record a couple of drops for Redbeard.
