Spoke to original Maiden vocalist, Paul DiAnno!
« Reply #2065 on: November 02, 2010, 11:02:02 PM »
Hey guys,

I play bass in Paul DiAnno's U.S. touring band. Let me tell you, those Steve Harris basslines are no joke! haha.

Anyway, I had a chance to interview Paul for Piki Rocks. I mostly wanted to pick his brain on tips and insights for other musicians in terms of forging a lasting career. In true DiAnno fashion, his responses were off the cuff and quite surprising.

Also on the site is an interview with former Dream Theater manager, Jim Pitulski about his new Ghost Story TV show.

Check it out here at PikiRocks.com

Cheers,
Jason Myers

While I am very dissapointed that they are not playing the NYC area, it looks like a very cool tour with Ed Force One again and it is really great for the band and its fans for them to be playing in new places.  The site does say to stay tune for more dates. Maybe the second leg will be similar to the second leg of SBIT where they play more US dates and travel normally with a bigger stage show. Otherwise I may be planning a trip to Florida.

X Factor has Nicko's best drum sound put to tape I'd say.   The reverb on the toms makes it very atmospheric.

UK dates are being announced on November 11.  Gigs in the Balkans are being rumoured for spring 2011 as well.

Birch and TAC live in New York and Boston, respectively.
There are a lack of US dates on this new tour.
Birch and TAC really want to see Iron Maiden.
When rumors of the Balkans came up, feigning ignorance, they asked if the Balkans were anywhere near their hometowns, because they want to see Iron Maiden.
Funny is had.

I think this is Seventh Son's biggest fail to date.
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

We really should start a Fail of the Year competition to run alongside the post of the year one.

If I said the first riff in Phantom of the Opera (where the whole band comes in) was a blueprint for thrash metal, would anyone disagree?

That song might qualify as a blueprint for Prog-metal too.

This too. I've thought of it as being one of the very first prog-metal songs ever.

As much as I love Satellite 15... Final Frontier, the editing on the drums during the intro is really starting to annoy me.

Also UK dates announced on Thursday at 12 noon! :D
