Yeah but at least I have the correct opinion on Maiden's worst album.

Close, but Afraid to Shoot Strangers and the title track are actually really damn good. No Prayer has no such songs.

I love colors.
What does BTBAM have to do with this?  ;)

BTW, my imminently superior ranking using lateralus's the default color ranking scheme:

Powerslave
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Somewhere in Time
A Matter Of Life and Death
Brave New World

Iron Maiden
The Number of the Beast
The Final Frontier

Piece of Mind
Killers
Dance of Death

Fear of the Dark
No Prayer for the Dying
The X-Factor
Virtual XI

Yes, but No Prayer also lacks any of the following: Fear is the Key, The Fugitive, Chains of Misery, The Apparition, Weekend Warrior, all of which are bottom 15 Maiden songs.

I won't deny that :P

But No Prayer also has Hooks in You, The Assassin, Fates Warning, Public Enema Number One, and Run Silent Run Deep which are just as bad as those :P

Looks like Ticketmaster screwed up...

https://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0D004559B4915CC9?artistid=735341&majorcatid=10001&minorcatid=200

Iron Maiden are coming back to Florida.
I was kind of hoping the tour would be later in the year.  They won't come to Dallas on an album tour, so if I were going to see the show I'd have to travel.  That's pretty early in the year and I'm not hugely fond of the album anyway, so that lowers my chances of seeing them this time around.
Argument, the presentation of reasonable views, never makes headway against conviction, and conviction takes no part in argument because it knows.

I think a lot of Iron Maiden "fans" who say it's awful haven't even listened to it, and they are just saying that because it is a different singer (who is actually quite good.)

And I've probably said before, but Sign of the Cross is a   :hefdaddy song!

I've listened to the X Factor, and I really just don't like Blaze's voice.  I'm not sure why people like it.  Same with Paul Di'Anno.  There are some great songs on the first two albums, but it doesn't matter because Bruce can actually sing.  I didn't find any redeeming songs on the X Factor either.

Di'anno's voice has a particular character about it. Hard to pin down, but his voice perfectly fit the first two albums.

Sup guys.

I'm in foreign territory here.  I saw IM play with DT this summer, and didn't really care for them.  However, I have a hunch that it was because 1) I didn't know many songs, and 2) I'm short and couldn't see.

Someone wanna give me a basic IM tour?  Three best n00b albums and stuff like that?

Start with Powerslave. Then try Somewhere in Time/Piece of Mind. If you like SiT, go get Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. If you like Piece of Mind, go backwards and get The Number of the Beast.

Then get their first two albums, they have a different singer but they are essential to Maiden's history imo. The Self-titled is an amazing album if you ask me.

Then you can pick up their 2000's stuff. Brave New World/Dance of Death/A Matter of Life and Death/The Final Frontier.

If you still want more, check out their 90's stuff. The only album from that I enjoy is The X Factor, but its a love it or hate it affair. But Fear of the Dark and Virtual XI have a few redeeming songs even if they are bad albums overall. I don't like No Prayer at all, but feel free to try it if you want.

Sure, why not?

I don't think it'll take 4 listens to get into Powerslave though. The first listen should be enough for you to be singing along with Bruce to Aces High ;)

Extra note: Powerslave has one of Maiden's most epic guitar solo's. The way it starts so softly and slowly but then becomes a shred fest is  :metal

Oh, quick question.  What exactly should I listen for?  I know that may seem like a silly question, but it totally affects the way I listen to a band...for example with DT, you listen to the groovy drum riffs in the background, even though they aren't necessarily melodic or even prominent at times.  Or with Pink Floyd, you listen to the bass.  With Queen, you listen to the vocals.  You know what I'm saying?  Hope that makes sense!  :lol

Maiden is the whole package for me. Bruce's soaring and epic vocals, Steve's pounding and thundering bass, the dual guitar magic of Dave and Adrian along with the powerful drumming of Nicko creates one hell of a package for me. Its the result of everything come together that I love, not just one aspect of their music. I know that doesn't answer your question though  :lol

Get Brave New World, too. Their newer stuff is just as important as their older stuff.
