Sun and Steel is a great track. Don't you go lumping it together with Quest for Fire.  >:(

Sun and Steel is actually worse than Quest for Fire.
Who turned the Fail-O-Tron 5000 on?

"Sun and Steel" is great.

I'll never understand the love for Dance of Death (the song).  Every time I hear it it reminds me of Stonehenge by Spinal Tap :lol

Its a very good song, and the whole Celtic feel is cool, but like Stonehedge, it feels kind of silly even for Maiden.  Especially with the lines: "AND I DANCED AND I PRANCED"
This.

I'm starting to think that "The Alchemist" might be my least favorite on TFF. I just kind of... zone out during it.

Sun and Steel is in my bottom 10 Iron Maiden songs. Considering the crap that's on Fear of the Dark, No Prayer for the Dying, and Virtual XI, that's saying a lot.

Bruce's voice is just so intolerable, bleh

The Death On The Road version of Dance Of Death is 10 times better than the studio version.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

First listen to new album. There's a song on there that sounds like Lord of Light and Out of the Shadows which seemed a good sign. A Bruce-type song.

Also, I forgot that When the wind blows ended with the revelation that the couple had mistaken the earthquake for a bomb. I thought they died of radiation sickness?

WTF? I beg to differ. Minus the last track, BNW is a perfect record. Great songs and performances.

Brave New World is probably my least favorite of the reunion albums. It's not bad at all, but I like the others better.

TTLBLAH is a top 10 Maiden song for me. No way in hell it is the weakest song on BNW (it's rather the strongest one).

I think this. There are plenty of Iron Maiden songs based on books/movies/etc., but few of them seem to be simple summaries of the source material. Like To Tame a Land, for instance. There's a lot of stuff in there that seems to be more based on Harris' interpretation than Dune.

And I agree about Brave New World. It's a good, consistent album, but the highs aren't nearly as high as those on DoD or TFF.

My biggest problem with BNW is probably that it lacks songs i really really love.
DoD has the title-track and Paschendale for example, AMOLAD has The Legacy and For the Greater Good of God and TFF has Starblind and Isle of Avalon to name a few, but BNW doesn't have a song i would rank as high.
The Wicker Man is slightly repetitive and not my type of song (im more in love with the slightly longer Maiden-songs), Ghost of the Navigator and the title-track are my favorites from it, but they aren't near as good as the other tracks i mentioned.

It's actually pretty funny considering that i used to LOVE BNW and held it as one of my favorites, but now it wouldn't make my top 5 Maiden-albums.

I pretty much agree. Every song on BNW is above average for me, but I don't hear anything "great." Same goes for AMOLAD, in my opinion. Whereas while DoD and TFF have their duds, they've also got songs that are in my Iron Maiden top 5.

I'd probably take BNW over DOD and AMOLAD.  It's just consistently good all the way through IMO, where as the other two have a few filler spots.

I highly approve of the top half, and I'm deeply offended by the bottom half.

The ranking of the old stuff is pretty close to how I'd do it, but some of the newer albums deserve their place in the top ten.

Until the 8th position most of it is closed for some years. The rest changes sometimes, probably AMOLAD is worse than Virtual XI and probably DOD is better than FOTD. A couple years ago I'd rank AMOLAD at the same level of BNW, sadly to say I think it's one of their poorest album. Can't really remember most songs, drift away on complete songs which makes me indifferent. In the beginning I'd rank NPFTD at the 5 top, it still my week spot on several occasions. Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter is such a fun song to sing.
