The only album I've listened to besides TFF has been AMOLAD..and really only to make some comparisons.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Looks like TFF has debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200. Good show, even if it is one of Maiden's weaker albums imo

I saw the thrashing you (I'm assuming it is you) gave it over at MP. You really think it's that bad? I couldn't disagree more.

I don't post on MP, so it was someone else.

I don't hate it. It has its moments. But overall its just too long of an album for the content it has. And I like The X Factor and AMOLAD a whole lot, so long songs aren't an issue with me. Its just most of the stuff needs to be cut down imo. El Dorado was a pretty good song and the only one I'd rank really highly though. The others are just "meh" to me. Nothing terrible, but nothing mindblowing either.

I sort of agree, I've only listened to it once, and haven't had any urges to spin it again yet.

The album reminds me a lot of Somewhere in Time actually. And I didn't care for that album too much either :/

I'd like it more if the synths weren't so obtrusive, and if there was less filler. And I dislike Wasted Years the more I listen to it more and more.

Somewhere in Time is a 7/10 album at best.

Give it another spin or two.  My first listen was the same. Not bad music, but nothing stood out to me.  However, the more I listened the more I realized it's pretty damn good.  I still wouldn't rank it highly in comparison to other IM albums, but its still a damn good one.

When SiT came out, I loved it. I thought it was the best thing they had done to that point. I was very lukewarm on Powerslave back in the day, feeling that it was very formulaic. Funny, because PS has aged greatly, but SiT really hasn't. Other than the title track (A Top 5 Maiden tune for me) and SIASL, nothing really jumps out at me. Alexander The Great is good, but similar to Rime, they hadn't quite figured out how the give an epic a proper ending.

No song that begins with the lines, "The demon in your mind will rape you in your bed at night." can be considered filler. Jesus.

SiT and Powerslave are both pretty good in my opinion. Though I've always though Bruce's vocals on Powerslave sounded a wee bit more strained that usual, and that has always bothered me (apparently, no one else thinks this, at least not people who listen to Nick's show).
Then again, because of the producation you can't make out a word Bruce is saying on SiT, so I guess it evens out.

I don't know. I really don't consider any songs "filler." Filler, for me, is more like all those random noises in the Mars Volta albums. Then again, there ARE certain Iron Maiden songs, like Quest for Fire, which have and will never be played. And each album does seem to have its share of songs which the band will never play live, even once. So it's hard to tell.

I would just like the say The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner is highly underrated and contains some of Bruce's best vocal moments in his career with Maiden.

No, it is true.

Am I the only one who thinks that filler on more recent Maiden albums has been a lot better than filler in the '80s?

I laughed the first time I read this. Then I thought, geesh..how true..but I don't think so. I still would prefer Sun And Steel and Back In the Village to The Mercenary or The Alchemist.

Yeah, but there's definitely something missing in this song..I've never been able to put my finger on it.

Worst song on the album.
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

Well..maybe I should've said Flash Of The Blade..but yeah it's a pretty plain track...but I've done a complete flip on Powerslave between then and now. When it first came out, Back In the Village was my favorite track off of it.

I'm glad someone actually agrees with me. TLOTLDR is easily my favourite track from Somewhere in Time. The harmonies, Bruce's vocal delivery, so engie, so powah.

Also the fantastic major key solo from Adrian, really kicks the atmosphere up a notch, gives great imagery.  Really every section of this song gives great imagery of the subject matter.
