Bastard! I would be going too were it not for the fact that the rest of the lineup is terrible. How could you make a festival with Maiden headlining only have 3 or 4 bands I'd enjoy for the whole weekend? Bah!

I have seen them every tour since Dance of Death though... :P

The lineup on the smaller stages is awesome...ASIWYFA, 65daysofstatic, FFAF, Converge, October File, Kylesa, etc, etc

Mainstages are a bit naff though.

I'm going for free as well

I'm so jealous of Europe and all their festivals... you have Download with AC/DC, Rage Against The Machine, Aerosmith, Them Crooked Vultures, Megadeth, Stone Temple Pilots, and more, Sonisphere with Iron Maiden, Alice In Chains, Slayer, Anthrax, and Mötley Crüe, and then Wacken, and all your other awesome cum-inducing festival lineups.  :tdwn

What do we get, Ozzfest? Oh wait, that's going to Europe as well, even though the lineup could be much better (it's still good enough for me to go though).

I've been reevaluating my Maiden album rankings, and think that, even though Powerslave has their best song in the title track, Somewhere in Time just might be a better album overall.  Like I've said earlier, no Maiden album is perfect, but those two are really close to being the best, based on a good song-to-bad song ratio.

So, updated:
1. Somewhere in Time/Powerslave
2. A Matter of Life and Death
3. Dance of Death
4. Piece of Mind
5. The Number of the Beast
6. Brave New World
7. Iron Maiden
8. Killers
9. Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
10. Fear of the Dark

I never really get the Somewhere in Time love  :\

I really, really hate the production on it. I don't mind synths, but it feels like they are just randomly thrown in there without considering how it would sound.

When SiT came out I thought it was their best album. But I've found it hasn't aged for me very well, except for the title track which is a Maiden Top 5 for me.
It's the exact opposite for Powerslave, which I didn't really care for in 1985, but I love it now!
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Not really. On Somewhere in Time they seem to be randomly thrown around. In SSOASS its a lot more subtle. They're used, but I don't particularly take note of it. It adds to the experience, instead of taking away from it. If I'm deliberately noticing the intrusion of the synths on something like Iron Maiden, they're doing it wrong. I don't mind them in other types of music, but how its done on SiT irritates me to no end. It would be a lot better if the synths had more subtlety to them.

And I listened to AMOLAD again today.  I think I may have a three-way tie for best Maiden album now.

I guess that's why they call them opinions.

AMOLAD is #4 for me personally. But its still a 10/10 record for me, personally.

Heard through the samples. My impressions:

Satellite 15: Sounds immense! The edited version of the final frontier in the video sounded kind of dull, but the little taste of the intro left me in shivers. Can't wait!
El Dorado: Heard it before offcourse, and loved it.
Mother of mercy: Like someone said, it sounds like a Bruce-song, but still im really looking forward to it. Sounds like its going to be killer.
Coming home: Sounds like it could be a really good single. Still very Bruce-ish, but sounds good!
The Alchemist: Very uptempo, and very Maiden-ish. Didn't leave me with anything special, but sounds like it can be a really good rocker!
Isle of Avalon: Now this sounds very promising! Love the little sound-effects, and the creepy clean-guitar-riff in major really left me with butterflies. Can't wait to hear how this song evolves!
Starblind: Sounds good. Very up-tempo, and very Maiden-ish. Still it feels more modern-sounding. Even though it didn't really leave me with anything, im looking forward to hearing how the whole song sounds like.
The Talisman: Well.... OK? People mentioned The Legacy, and..hell.. it's the same goddamned chords! Maiden have reused the same chords over and over, but The Legacy was kind of unique. Im hoping that this will kind of be The Legacy pt 2 or something, because this sounds way to similar..
The Man who would be King: Sounds promising. It's pretty hard to judge anything from these slow intros, because Maiden have done tons of them!
When the Wild Wind Blows: Sounds very good! Can't wait to hear this one. The chords and the melody is really nothing special, but it sounds very Maiden-like, and even though that doesnt mean "unique" in any way, it sound very promising!

So my impression from these little teasers are very positive. Nothing too unique, except for maybe Satellite 15 and Isle of Avalon, but the clips made me happy, and i cant wait for the album!  :metal

4. The Number of the Beast
5. A Matter of Life and Death/
