I'm still one of those Maiden fans who doesn't have any of their live DVDs, or any Maiden DVDs for that matter. I'm still pretty new to the band, despite being a fan since 2000.

When I get some money in, I'll buy Death On The Road. I'm really interested in seeing what Maiden looked like on their previous tours. I've got audio bootlegs, but that isn't enough!

If you have a blu-ray player, I would sugest Flight 666 on blu-ray.  The best concert video I own.
I was at the show that they took "Rime Of The Ancient Mariner" from  ;D

Hallowed Be Thy Name for me.  So I win.

Mine's still better  :P

They play those two at every show on every tour (95% of the time), and that tour could quite possibly be the last time they ever play "ROTAM"...

A new review for TFF.  Sounds really awesome.  I think the author compares certain songs to Rush, U2, and The Beatles.  Interesting bands to compare IM to.

That review seems almost too positive...I definitely liked the song descriptions, but all the fluff about how "revolutionary" it was made me iffy, especially when the descriptions didn't sound all THAT different from Maiden with a couple of exceptions.  That doesn't make me any less excited for this album though.

I didn't think Nicko wrote that much. I thought it was basically the verse riff. The pre chorus is a carbon copy of Michael Kiske's New Horizons, also cowritten by Adrian.
New Horizons is an awesome tume BTW

would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

I remember watching Death on the road documentary, where Nicko spoke about New frontier. I'm pretty sure he said that he wrote a really good chunk of it, although I haven't seen the documentary in a while...

1. Piece Of Mind
2. The Number Of The Beast
3. Powerslave
4. Somewhere In Time
5. Killers
6. Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
7. Brave New World
8. The X Factor
9. Virtual XI

Both albums are simply excellent.  State of Mind is a bit more raw, while WTTRW is more polished, yet both are essential.

The song With You Again is the first Murray/Smith dual lead since 1988!

No, it's not. Killers is a classic. The S/T is a mediocre album...good for a debut, but pales in comparison to most of the other albums.

Wait.... Prowler, Running Free, Phantom of the Opera, Transylvania, and Iron Maiden aren't classics?

Killers is kind of a bore. Wrathchild, Killers, Murders and Another Life are some cool tracks but the album isn't really that special. The S/t has the superior production and just flat out better riffing. Not to mention Di'anno sounds like he's talking on Killers instead of singing. On the S/t it sounds like he's actually into it, whereas on Killers he doesn't sound interested at all.

How so? Killers feels lifeless to me, with the exception of a few songs. The S/t had energy. Killers is just... there.

You guys are debating that, yet no-one has noticed that Fear of the Dark is higher than other albums. It's the worst album I own, let alone Maiden's worst.

Fear of the Dark is #13  for me personally. But he had it at #10, it wasn't like it was his #1 or anything. Its a really hit-and-miss album. Its got some of their best work, but also some of their absolute worst as well. To me its a conflicting album because there are times it feels like Iron Maiden isn't even trying anymore, but then you get to a moment where it blows your mind (Like the epic explosion in Afraid to Shoot Strangers at the end) and you wonder why they didn't try to make the other songs better.

I noticed that as well.

The fact that Fear of the Dark is higher than anything other than No Prayer is quite disturbing.
