The X Factor doesn't have a single bad song on it. The weakest might be The Unbeliever, but even that is a solid track in my eyes. And The Sign of the Cross is a top 5 IM song minimum. Nicko's drum solo is fucking epic and then leading into the SWEEEEEEEEEET guitar solos at the end.  :metal

So was the guy actually a good singer?  Because I had been told he was awful, but knowing Maiden fans he probably would have been labeled as such no matter what...

It probably takes some time to get used to his style, but once you get into it, you'll love it. He's great on TXF in particular, although he had his problems live. However, if you're ever having doubts about his singing ability, listen to his solo works - it's just incredible. I'm sure that 99% of the people that listened to Silicon messiah never said a single bad word about Bayley's voice ever again.

He was good on the Maiden albums. I haven't heard anything live, but from what I've heard, he has a great voice.

Yes, I get that.

But No Prayer for the Dying is one of my most hated albums ever. Not just by Iron Maiden. Its in the same boat at Turbo. It has no energy, no emotion, just... nothing. Nobody in the band sounds like they are even trying at all. I don't like a single song on it. The best on it might be Mother Russia, but the only half-decent part of that song was the solo, the rest of it is crap.

AMOLAD has plenty of times when it felt like the band was doing their best and pouring their souls into the music to me. I don't mind the choruses, that's just me. The drum solos in The Longest Day, the epic buildup of The Greater Good Of God, The pure mindfuckery of The Legacy, The fact that the opening song is a tribute to Thin Lizzy (Any song that is a tribute to Thin Lizzy is automatically awesome), all of those and more are just moments I listen to the album and my mind is blown over and over again. It doesn't have a bad song at all, to me.

Blah, I'm a  AMOLAD fanboy, so whatever.

Killers would fall in the mid-low tier for me. Iron Maiden is MUCH better than it, in my opinion. Some top-tierers would be Powerslave, The Number Of The Beast, Piece Of Mind, and Somewhere In Time.

Somewhere in Time is grossly overrated. I hate the production on that album so much. Its a good album, but nowhere near their best.

Well, everyone else is doing it...

1. Powerslave
Top Tier:
Somewhere in Time
Dance of Death
Brave New World
Piece of Mind
Number of the Beast

Mid Tier:
A Matter of Life and Death
Iron Maiden (the songs are great, and this would be in the top tier if Paul Di'Anno didn't suck so much)
Killers (mid tier whether its Bruce or Paul)

Bottom Tier:
Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Fear of the Dark

Due to horrible reviews I haven't checked out No Prayer, Virtual XI, or X Factor.  Like I said earlier, while I have a lot of "top tier" albums, all of those albums, even Powerslave, have one or two songs that keep it from being a real masterpiece, which is kind of sad.

You must be thinking of a different song called "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son."  Surely your not talking about the IRON MAIDEN song, the one with one of the most sinister and epic middle sections ever.... NO, not that one, ey?  Good.
