Then how else would you get a recording of the show if it's not coincidentally the one (if any) that the band releases officially?

There's thousands of bootleg trading circles and sites, along with Dimeadozen.org which is a torrent based bootleg sharing community. These forums even has a section for bootleg trading. If you don't have any bootlegs to trade, many traders will be willing to do a 2:1 which means you send them twice as many blank discs to them as they send back with shows on, which is a good way to start a collection. Just DON'T EVER PAY FOR THEM! :D

Although likely to be old news to anyone who has been paying attention to this thread, the tour, or the band in general, I figured I would post the details just in case:

The Final Frontier will be available in the following packages:

-Standard CD
-iTunes LP
-Digital Download
-Limited Edition Double Picture Vinyl
-Limited Collector's "Mission Edition"

As far as I know, the Standard CD, iTunes LP, and Digital Download are all the same in terms of content. Obviously the CD provides the benefit of a physical format, though.

The Double Picture Vinyl has the same content as well, only with the cover art built into one of the vinyls and what appears to be a cool silhouette of a crowd on the other. The two vinyl sleeves appear to be a close-up of the new Eddie and the new cross-keys logo (in my signature).

The "Mission Edition" comes with a hardlock case, a director's cut of the new music video, some interview footage, wallpapers and other images, and a videogame called "Mission II: Rescue & Revenge". Can't go wrong here given that Amazon is selling it for about $13.

If you want to see some images of the different editions or want to pre-order, check out the following link:

Hm, I'm getting the normal version, I think. I haven't experienced good things when I pre-ordered on Amazon, so I'll just get a reservation of my copy at a local CD store.
... And you ask me: "Where's my hairspray?"

I'm not 100% certain, but I think the limited edition might be available in stores too.

I meant to ask before: When pre-ordering form Amazon.com, do you usually get the album day-of-release, or do they ship it on the day it comes out?

It's sort of a gamble. I've gotten things a day before they come out and I've also gotten things a few days after.

I just pre-ordered it, and picked standard shipping, and it said the expected delivery date was August 20th - August 24th... WTF?

I also ordered a Slayer CD... hopefully that one doesn't take 40 days to arrive as well  :\

Jeez.. I'm watching and listening to this Final Frontier video.

This song sounds equally boring and dull as El Dorado. This is coming from a fan who is heads over heels for BNW-AMOLAD. Opinions are always subject to change..

More enjoyable than their cover of Helloween's "I Want Out".

I like the backing vocals on it.

That said, I've always felt as if Sonata Arctica's strengths show better in songs that are either really fast or really emotional, of which "Die with your Boots on" applies to neither.

I thought El Dorado was passable, not a great track but I don't mind it - and it was decent live. The Final Frontier, on the other hand, is not what I want from Maiden; too much "hard rock," not enough metal. Reminds me of Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" a little, which isn't bad but I absolutely do not want Maiden to go in that direction.

Both songs seem pretty good to me. Knowing Maiden, I wouldn't take the singles too seriously. I mean, last time around we got Different World and Benjamin Breeg, two songs which are pretty much widely criticized until everyone fell in love with AMOLAD when it came out. And, before that, we got Rainmaker and Wildest Dreams. Rainmaker is good, but I don't know many people who like Wildest Dreams and I'm amazed it actually made it onto their set. No More Lies and The Angel and the Gambler have also been singles. So, if there's a lesson to be learned, it's that the singles really don't tell us anything about how good the albums will be.

With the exception of The Angel and the Gambler, everything mentioned on that list happens to be a solid piece of music.

Benjamin Breeg especially.

I really like TFF.  I think its different, yet still awesome.  El Durado I thought was good, but not great.  I thought it made a really good live song though and I feel the same about a lot of IM's other singles.  TNOTB, RTTH, Wildest Dreams, Different World... none are in my top 10 songs, but I think they make for great live songs.

I've gotten used to them.

That being said, does anyone agree that Iron Maiden has some of the best closers to an album? Iron Maiden, Hallowed Be Thy Name, To Tame a Land, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Alexander the Great, Only the Good Die Young (I really love this song, even though I seem to be in the minority on that.....), Fear of the Dark, Journeyman, and The Legacy are all closers and amazing ones at that.
Every time someone brings up "Never Enough", the terrorists win.

Metal Hammer's track by track preview of The Final Frontier.  This album sounds like its going to be very proggy so I guess everyone here will love it.  After reading this, I have really high expectations now especially since I love Satellite 15...The Final Frontier.
