I'm goin' out on a limb and saying that this is Maiden's best if not one of the best album covers they've ever had.

I'm inclined to agree, except it bothers me that Eddie...doesn't really look like Eddie on this one.

New song is pretty good though. No complaints there.

I thought that too. The kinda stepped out of the generally-human-looking/shaped-mummy/cyborg/monster to a futuristic mechanical ogre. The head looks slightly too big or out of place I think as well. Still awesome though :birch:.

I don't like the album cover art at all, but the single art is one of the best ever.

I'm still scarred by the atrocity that was the Dance of Death cover.  Just not seeing that mistake again is good enough for me!

There was a lot about that list that wasn't really funny.

I'm not a huge fan of the artwork.  But it is better than "Dance of Death."

Artwork is hideous, but I guess I'll get used to it. Haven't heard the song yet, just discovered the news as I arrived at work. Will download and listen when I get home.

Awesome news anyway :metal

Oh and the tracklist looks great, cool titles.
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

I use Opera and it shows up as a white screen.
Tried IE and I got this: Server Error

Guess I'll have to try another connection of mine ;)

El Dorado sounds kickass. The cover is decent, but not special.

Really digging the music.  Same Maiden style, but still different.  Wasn't crazy about Bruce's more talking like vocals, but once he started singing the chorus, I was all smiles.  Very cool song.  I cannot wait for this album.  I love how they keep making really long albums, more maiden the better.

The album cover is actually not too bad, if it weren't something from Iron Maiden. Eddy doesn't feel like Eddy, but I do like the rest of the cover. As for the single cover art, I really enjoy it.

As for the song, not one shred of disappointment is to be had. I am really digging this song.
I felt its length in quite a few places.

Lyrics:

Gonna tell you a story,
On a cold winters night,
You'll be sailing for glory,
Before you know what is right

So come over here now,
I've got a vision for you,
It's my personal snake oil
It's just something I do,

I'm the jester with no tears,
And I'm playing on your fears,
I'm a trickster smiling underneath this mask of love and death,
The eternal lie I've told,
About the pyramids of gold,
I've got you hooked, at every turn your body's left to burn

Ha ha, ha ha, ha ha ha!

You'll be wanting a contract, ha
You'll be waiting awhile
I'd like to give you my contact,
But that isn't my style,

Well you only get one chance,
And it's too good to miss,
If I'd give it right to ya,
Then I wouldn't exist,

Greed, lust and envy, pride,
It's the same-old, same-old way,
The smoke and mirrors visions that you see are just like me,
I'm a [glamour something's?] face,
With just a little out of place,
I know someone just like you, knows someone just like me,

Chorus:

El Dorado come and play
El Dorado step this way,
Take a ticket for the ride,
El Dorado streets of gold,
See the shipmates, all their souls
You've got one last chance to try,

So gone is the glory,
And gone is the gold,
Well if you need a story,
How come it has to be told?

Well you can say I'm a devil,
And I wouldn't say no,
But out here on the dark side,
Hey, on with the show!

So now my tale is told,
Big and bad and twice as bold,
This ship of fools is sinking as the cracks begin to grow,
There is no easy way, for an honest man today
Which is something you should think of as my lifeboat sails away.

Chorus x 2

My first impression as to the lyrics is, oddly enough, Dubai.  The lyrics remind me of people luring migrant workers from the Middle East and Asia to come to the new "El Dorado", where without a "contract", they get trapped in labour jobs that control their pay, work, residence, and keeps them trapped there funding the lifestyles of the people on top.  Just my gut reaction.

"In the beginning, the universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry, and has been widely regarded as a bad idea."

It's not an Opera problem at all.  The servers were just overloaded with connections.

For anyone that tuned into the Rockline last night, was it mentioned if the new album is mastered or not?

This sub-forum has a Rush 'Time Machine Tour w/ Spoilers' thread. Should we make one for The Final Frontier tour to specifically discuss the setlist, tour, etc...?

El Dorado is really boring except for H's solo. I hope the rest of the album blows this song away.

I'd say every song on AMOLAD is better than this song except for Different World.

This is a good idea considering a lot of DTF will be attending because of DT.

I think it's better than "The Pilgrim" as well. But, i think AMOLAD is a REALLY good album, so just because this song isn't as good as 80% of the tracks on that one doesnt really make my expectations for this album any lower.

Its funny that its Melvyn Grant responsible for this artwork as I imagine he divided opinions much the same way when he did Fear of the Dark.  Both are pretty drastic departures from Riggs' Eddie.  I am not a fan of the new art, but I think its more down to the sci-fi theme... it looks like a Rust in Peace outtake.  Like from Hangar 18 or something.

would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I just threw that comparison out there for fun. Looking at the song on it's own, I think it's really weak and really goes nowhere. As an absolute Maiden fanatic, I'm really upset by this song. I know there will be mindblowing songs on the new album though!

I like it. Better than DoD by far. It's a step in a different direction and I approve! As long as the stage Eddie is as epic as the album cover, which apparently it will be..
