..or Can I Play With Madness?
...or Wildest Dreams?

very interesting and surprising choices.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I just find them EXTREMELY catchy and fun. I'm never getting tired of those three, as well as The Prisoner and Trooper. The rest of the songs are flawless epics.

Looking for Maiden album suggestions.  So far the only album I have is Piece of Mind, and I'm leaning towards getting Powerslave next.  I'm kinda looking for something more "proggy" from Maiden though...

I'd pick up their last album, A Matter Of Life And Death. It's as proggy as Maiden gets, though they're not proggy. Eother that or Brave New World. But if you really want to know what Maiden is all about, be sure to get The Number Of The Beast.  All 3 I just listed are far better than Powerslave, IMO.

If you like Piece of Mind then you should like Powerslave. Their pretty similar.
Cole: "Ow I just got hit in the balls"
Me: "How?"
Cole: "Well you know when you try to scratch your balls, and you scratch too hard?
I'll admit sometimes I want to listen to Dragonforce.

How do you guys cope with the gallops on The Trooper?  I can only do it with 3 fingers and even then it drains stamina like nobody's business.

In more Maiden related news. I'm currently scouting my school to make a Iron Maiden cover band for my schools battle of the bands. So far I have four guitarists, and two drummers interested. No one for vocals though :(

Just visit the karaoke thread and let me know if you're interested in my immense talents.

In a serious note I'd consider helping out if you needed a drummer.

I have two drummers already lined up. One is more into prog rock and alternative rock, but can do Maiden. The other is a metalcore/Death metal drummer but is a Maidenhead. The advantage to the second drummer is: Better set, own recording equipment, and already knows the songs I would want. Guitarist, all of them know all Maiden songs. It comes down to who can solo the best. And NO GOOD VOCALIST THAT LOVE MAIDEN EXIST IN MY AREA!!

Even if you were on a higher level, finding an acceptable, let alone great vocalist would be the hardest thing you would have to do when it comes to Maiden. My suggestion since this is a one off thing and probably a short set, would be to do and instrumental set.

Transylvania, Ghengis Khan, Losfer Words, and Ides of March would make a pretty kickass quick set. In addition you could always roll Ides into one of the other songs.

I'm just warning you, you simply settle for someone on vocals and it's going to seriously take away from the whole performance.

Freakin' this.  I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen good muso's let down by average vocalists.  Maybe there's a female singer around that could pull it off?  If that fails, go for a Maiden song sung mostly in a lower register like Wrathchild, Phantom of the Opera or something, so a man with low balls can sing it with gusto.

Got them all.

Toughest was Fear of the Dark.  I did a run-through before going back to see what I missed, and Killers had 2 empty spaces, No prayer 1, and Fear of the Dark 4.

The Trooper I think is pretty easy gallop-wise.  I have to do it with 3 fingers right now.  Killers and Aces High on the other hand, those KILL your right hand even with 3 fingers on the galloping for Killers.

Inspired by the "Top 50" Maiden thread, here are 5 Maiden songs I like a lot but don't seem to fare as well on others' lists:

The Prisoner - Killer song. Awesome intro, nice chorus, fast and heavy, Bruce sounds nice and mean on this one
Heaven Can Wait - A ballbuster of a song IMO - OK, the chorus isn't great, but I love the intro and outro, and that whole middle section is outstanding
The Prophecy - I think this song has very nice melodies, and I really like the way Bruce sings it
Tailgunner - not as awesome as Aces High by any means, but similar in feel and structure I think (and similar subject matter)
The Thin Line Between Love & Hate - Might be my favorite Maiden song ATM. About a thousand great solos (especially during the ending which is one of my absolute favorite Maiden sections) but I also like the riffs and chorus

For me, Caught Somewhere in Time was the most difficult. Fast gallops for 6 or so minutes is tough. 3 finger gallops I found fairly easy if I kept my strength up with regular playing, but 2 fingers had better sounding attack.

And Killers was just a fun one to play. :D

I remember back in the old days on the Maiden website you could submit questions to be answered by the band and someone asked Dave how he made the guitar 'sound like a knife stabbing somebody' in Killers :lol  He was referring to the part before the verse where Dave slides down the G letting the natural harmonics sound out.
