Saw IM at the O2 last night - brilliant, Bruce especially was on top form.  :metal :metal

But WHAT THE F*CK IS THIS F*CKING THING with watching gigs through your cell-phone? Do people only think something is real if they're watching it on a 1" screen? Put the damn things down - there's people behind you, don'tcha know.  :censored
Second that a million times!! But i'm a bit guilty though, if there's something awesome happening I usually take my phone up to capture itn rather than stand and watch! Me so stupid.

Not going tomorrow night, but on Sunday.  Super pumped.  Definitely curious to see if any changes are made to the setlist (though logically I know it's a long shot).

Kinda hope not. I'd be heartbroken if they don't play Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and/or Phantom of the Opera tomorrow night.

The only thing I'm hoping for is them adding in Hallowed Be They Name. They could swap it with anything and I'd be happy. Other than that, the setlist looks fantastic.

I'd love for them to play Hallowed, but not at the expense of SSoaSS or Phantom. If they trade out Fear of the Dark for Hallowed though, I'd be in total bliss. :tup :metal

Yeah actually, now that I think about it a little more I'm not sure I would be okay with losing SSoaSS

Yeah, considering how rarely this song ever gets played. Hallowed is generally present, so I'm fine with it not being there if I get SSoaSS instead. Same goes for Phantom. :tup

Bruce was on fire the other night. Dude was absolutely in tip-top shape for the whole show. There was a REALLY epic "OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" from him halfway through Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Seeing that song live might have bumped it up to the top of my favorite Iron Maiden songs. Absolutely insane to experience live.

The other SSoaSS-era songs also translate brilliantly into a live setting. :metal

Yes, SSOASS was the highlight of the show for me as well. (saw them last year).
It is a song that has aged very well.
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

I seriously hope they keep that song in setlists more often in the future. That song was absolutely the single greatest "live song" I've ever heard in any concert ever. It's an absolute beast. :metal :tup

Sorry to hear that, man. :( Hopefully the band liked the Raleigh audience enough to want to come back again on their next tour! Bruce mentioned that that was probably the first time the band had ever played in Raleigh before.

Yeah, I wish they'd keep it as well.  It's certainly the best live Maiden song I've heard.  Of course, given how these things usually go, it's likely that SSOASS won't ever be played live again after this tour.  :-\

:lol It's just a personal thing for me. I've been to my fair share of concerts before, and while I've been to one or two shows that either equal or beat out the IM show as a whole, I just felt that SSoaSS as a song is the single best live song I've personally experienced. :tup

Sad but (probably) true. *insert obligatory Metallica joke here*

However it confounds me why a band that's so well known for their live shows would hardly ever play one of the absolute best songs in their discography that shows off the absolute best qualities they have as live artists to the fullest?

That's awesome. Love having those type of moments! :tup

Yeah, it was absolutely incredible. :metal :tup

Saw Maiden last night in St. Louis.  Incredible show, probably the best live show I've ever seen (and I saw a show on the Maiden England tour last year).  Bruce was in top form -- he was able to hit the high notes in the first verse of Aces High, for example (he couldn't really even do that on Live After Death).

Yeah, that was something I noticed back at the Raleigh show too. I really never cared much for Aces High before, but I've had an urge to listen to that song a lot lately ever since the show. :metal

I still don't care for them.

Enjoy it mate! I'll see them in 14 days in Curitiba, with Ghost and Slayer. Can't wait! I thought I was done with seeing Maiden after catching almost every tour since '92, but this setlist is freakin' awesome!

I just took out "The Final Frontier" the other day and gave it a spin at the gym, front to back, nonstop.  Great album, other than that opening piece with the fake drums  :yeahright

I hope these guys have another album in them.

I think it's a bit of a shame that they got to tour like that with the setlist they are playing.  Phenomenal tracks, for sure, and they are playing them with tremendous quality, but the albums that they've made ever since Bruce and Adrian came back were acclaimed to be top-notch stuff, especially Brave New World, so Maiden still has a lot to offer in terms of new quality stuff.  Too bad, the general audience does not see it like that, at times.

Ye$ I do. Every now and then, over Maiden's career, I am completely put off by them and don't agree with that they do. They are prone to milking it, ab$olutely. For a band that displays so much musical and personal integrity, money grab$ like this annoy me.

To be fair, when Maiden tours for their new albums, they have the tendency to go overboard with supporting their newer stuff.  They played the entire damn album on the AMOLAD tour, and the North American leg of the Final Frontier Tour was almost entirely post-reunion stuff (in spite of the fact that the album hadn't even been released yet at the time they were touring).  It seems like the new Maiden model is

1. Record
2. Tour for a year or two supporting new record; focus on newer stuff
3. Do a history tour for as long as the public will allow

You can see why they'd stick with this formula:  Maiden fans are obviously eating these history tours up.  (My dad and I saw two shows on the Maiden England tour.  No regrets; they were some of the best shows I've ever been to.)  Having said that,  I wonder if they're going to keep up the pattern (assuming, of course that the band stays active, which might not be the case given their age).  I'm not sure Maiden fans are aching for a history tour based on the Fear of the Dark tour.  Where do you go from here?
