Listening to Blood Brothers on Rock In Rio.  I just realized how repetitive the chorus is.  Anyone else feel that way?

By the way, I was just listening to Blood Brothers and I noticed the chorus is really repetitive.  Anyone else notice this?

I was going to respond to your post by yelling very authoritatively.  However, I think it best to go with a quiet introduction first, which I will later reprise at the end of my post, before lauching into the most powerful, forceful part of the post.

Paschendale:  I so have mixed feelings about this song right now.  I really like just about everything about the song, both musically and lyrically.  But the quiet parts with the single guitar note picking are just grating to my ears.  It sounds like someone programmed a lead guitar patch into a synth, and is playing that instead of playing a guitar, and it just sounds goofy.

Really? The quiet parts of Paschendale definitely sound different than any other Maiden song, but I think the guitar tone sets the ominous mood pretty well. It takes a while to get into, but Paschendale is one of the best songs of Maiden's modern era.

It's not the quiet part as a whole that bothers me.  Specifically, it's the lead "weedly-weedly" part.

I understand where you're coming from - when I first heard that song I didn't really have any musical knowledge, so I didn't say "that sounds like a keyboard!", but it did sound off to me as well. What's you're opinion on the Death on the Road version? I personally like that version a little more, and the guitar tone is quite a lot better, in my opinion.

Remedy that. That version of Paschendale is the definitive one, far better than the studio one (which I think is pretty damn good myself.)

The San Bernardino show... sonofabitch I wanna go to that so badly... It's the venue they played when DT opened for them... and then I didn't give a hoot about Maiden. Now is my chance to redeem myself. Lol. Plus... The biggest outdoor ampitheater in the US... 60K capacity :metal
That place is fucking insane. I'm looking for a tour to catch in California, and Maiden would obviously fit the bill, but I don't think I'm interested in a return trip to Glen Helen. I mean, like seriously insane. If they add some extra dates, like maybe SF or SD, that might be a winner.

It also has the problem of being 2 days away from the Austin date, which I'd probably be interested in catching. Never heard of the venue, which appears to be in the centerfield of an Indy Car track. I have a hunch that might become a popular place for shows, so I wouldn't mind checking it out.

And Bosk, you're missing out ignoring Killers. Possibly my favorite Maiden album. Hard to say.

Killers is a great album. Paul Di'Anno sounded killer on that album, no pun intended. :metal I would also like to agree with others suggesting he pick up SSoaSS as soon as he can.

However, considering that Bosk likes The Final Frontier the best out of his collection of IM albums thus far, I think he'd be best off getting A Matter of Life and Death next. Regardless of it being my personal favorite IM album, I think it's probably more in line with what Bosk seems to like best about Iron Maiden. It's one of their most progressive albums, and it's just flat-out solid for the majority of the album with several really great songs.

En Vivo. There's two copies of the dvd at the store. One is regular, the other is in a steelbook case with a sticker that says "strictly limited edition" and is $5 more. Worth a purchase or not?

Make sure you get the Documentary. Not sure if that's with the DVD version, but if it's not, it's definitely worth the extra $5.

There was never a third disc, both editions are 2 disc and the only difference is the packaging.  Not worth the extra money.

Hmmph, well it's not very hard to make a better record than The Final Frontier.

Same thing with new Megadeth: I listen first and then buy if it's good enough.

I maintain that each Reunion album builds upon the previous one. I thought there was NO WAY they were going to top AMOLAD, and I think, on most days, that they did with TFF.
What I do have for the next album is..confidence!
