I thought what Damian did with the songs was incredible.
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

So tomorrow starts the Maiden England World Tour!!!  :metal

Any thoughts?

To me it´s awesome and that Maiden actually do this kind of rerun of classic tours is just fuckin :hefdaddy. To be able to witness all does magic moments that you have seen at home countless of times live again is a fans wet dream! Big ups to Maiden for doing that!
Sadly for me i have to wait until 2013 for the european leg of the tour!  :'(

Holy moly, I didn't even hear anything about that! Is that a revival of what they did during the Seventh Son tour? Because that would be awesome - it's my second favourite Maiden record, with Moonchild probably being the greatest opener that Maiden has ever written.

They are playing SSoaSS and The Prisoner, aka two of the best Maiden tunes ever?  :omg:

Are they coming to Germany? If not, an inanimate object is about to get destroyed. Brutally.

It's a North American Tour with no plans to bring it to Europe yet. I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually do, however. This is basically Somewhere Back in Time 2.0, and that was a pretty extensive world tour.

Anyway, that's great to hear about Seventh Son and The Prisoner. Still have my fingers crossed for Still Life - if the setlist too closely resembles that for Somewhere Back in Time, I won't be happy.

Well it´s not really SBIT part 2, this is a revival of the 7th son tour and most of the tracks from that album will be played including the title track!  :metal

Yeah they will and i think the announcement will come in August-September this year with the first european dates in the beginning of 2013!

I really hope that I get to see them. I was soooo pissed that I missed TFF tour, with DT opening them for them, but I was Iceland while they were in Germany (go figure!).

The last few tours have already featured a handsome portion of Seventh Son; I basically look at it the same way I look at Rush's Time Machine Tour, as The Camera Eye was exciting and all, but we'd already heard a major portion of the album in recent tours, so it really wasn't that big a deal. What I'm looking forward to is the deep cuts.

Meh, this is the very reason I almost decided not to go to this tour. SiT is much more deserving of the deep cuts being played. I'll set aside for a moment my personal bias of of SiT being the much better album, but Maiden recently did Moonchild and Clairvoyant, along with regulars Can I Play (ugh) and Evil. All that has ever gotten play from SiT in years is Wasted Years and Heaven Can Wait, and if I see this tour and that's still all the play from that album I'm going to fucking rage.

Having seen Iron Maiden more times than any other band ( I think this will be my 19th or 20th Maiden show) I'm at the point now where I don't really care what they play any more.

But I would LOVE to hear them do something like "Deja Vu" or "The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner"  or "Alexander the Great"

Unlikely. I don't know if any of these have ever been played live.

It's pretty funny how little of SiT was played even on the corresponding world tour. Anyway, I'm not a huge fan of the album, so I'd be fine if they just brought back CSiT and focused on the more interesting and obscure pieces of the first five albums.

Infinite Dreams
The Prophecy
SSoaSS
Only the good die young (This ones a killer and as far as i know it has never been played live?)

I truly hope they don't play the title track. One of the most overrated in Maiden's catalog.

According to their website they're going to play 3/4 of these:

Moonchild
The Evil That Men Do
The Prisoner
Still Life
Die With Your Boots On
Infinite Dreams
Killers
Can I Play With Madness
Heaven Can Wait
Wasted Years
The Clairvoyant
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
The Number Of The Beast
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Iron Maiden

I'm cool with that set list.

"Overrated"? I don't get that at all. It's not a well-known track, for one, and even among hardcore fans it isn't brought up too often.

Well, 3/4 of this would be 11 songs, which would make the following the best possible outcome:

Moonchild
The Evil That Men Do
The Prisoner
Still Life
Infinite Dreams
Killers
The Clairvoyant
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
The Number Of The Beast
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Iron Maiden

That'd be really cool.

Never crazy about it back in day, but it has aged quite nicely.

Here's the reason I'm not getting excited about this... 3/4ths would mean they are cutting 4 songs, and while this could be amazing and they could play...

Moonchild
The Evil That Men Do
The Prisoner
Still Life
Die With Your Boots On
Infinite Dreams
Killers
Wasted Years
The Clairvoyant
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
Hallowed Be Thy Name

Chances are they will play...

Moonchild
The Evil That Men Do
Infinite Dreams
Can I Play With Madness
Heaven Can Wait
Wasted Years
The Clairvoyant
Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
The Number Of The Beast
Hallowed Be Thy Name
Iron Maiden

Pretty much cutting out anything special and playing a lot of the crap we've seen again and again.

Unless I'm missing something, the website says 2/3, not 3/4 (also keeping in mind that the fractions were an offhand estimation by Bruce and not an actual formula for generating this year's setlist).

In either case, they are going to cut the amazing songs they haven't played in awhile so they can keep playing okay songs they've done plenty.

I understand.  I have actually felt the same way about the last couple of Dream Theater shows I've seen.
