All three albums will now be on shuffle on my iPod.

I can't wait for new OSI.  :caffeine:

Listened to Blood today in anticipation. Kicks the shit out of the other two, IMO.

I actually can't decide between the three, honestly.  Each of them has sort of a signature sound unique to that album, makes 'em all awesome.

I'm in the same boat here.  Whichever OSI album I happen to be listening to at a given time will be my favorite.

This is one of the things that makes OSI so great.  :tup

I'm with you on that.  I like the other two albums too, but Blood is on another level.

The song in that video Mebert posted sounded awesome.  Can't wait!

No song titles or artwork are available yet, but Kevin Moore and Jim Matheos are wrapping up mixing right now in Iowa.

This seems to have gone under the radar...

From Twitter.
"Office Of Strategic Influence (Fates Warning's Jim Matheos, ex-DT's Mike Portnoy/Kevin Moore, P Tree's Gavin Harrison) new CD due Jan 2012"

Probably just an idle rumour, but I love the idea of Mike Portnoy leaving Dream Theater and instantly turning to his butler (played by Michael Caine) and going "RIGHT! Get me Kevin Moore!"

Hmm, gotta be a typo.  Can't have two drummers.  Gavin has already been announced as the drummer for OSI4.

Could be a split thing, but I agree - it's almost certainly nothing. I'm certain Portnoy would've mentioned by now, too. Just an interesting wee thing that's being passed round, hadn't seen it acknowledged yet.

Since it lists the name of the band before the CD's release date, I can only assume that when it says "Office Of Strategic Influence" it refers to the band itself, and by listing it's members, past and present, would include Mike Portnoy as he drummed on the band's first two albums.

I honestly do not think Mike is on OSI4 - he would've said something by now, considering the number of projects/bands/albums he's done this year, this would've been the one to make the most fuss about had he been on it. He's on OSI4 as much as he's on Storm Corrosion - meaning not at all.

I also think this is some sort of typo. Gavin has much more interesting drumming for OSI's work.

LOL.  Maybe he's a guest vocalist.  You know, OSI usually has a guest vocalist for one track.

I quite like Dead Air for Radios, but the last two songs on the album really freak me out. It's probably the combination of the two, Mouse (Now Watch What Happens) makes me really paranoid then Hell Mary (which would be okay otherwise) is fucking sfdskjfba!! tripping balls :( Does anyone else find this? I would listen to the album rather more were it not for this

Mouse is my favourite song on the album! But yeah, Hell Mary is terrifying, even worse than the last track on Lateralus.

Eh, I just find Hell Mary to be boring and pointless.  I love the rest of the album, but I always skip that track.

Hell Mary is legitimately unnerving to me.  I don't like to listen to it.

Oh I wouldn't call it boring. It's really atmospheric, and the image it paints in my mind is terrifying but incredible at the same time.

I must admit, as much as I'm looking forward to the new OSI album, I'd much rather a new Chroma Key album.

I find Chroma Key very boring. OSI, on the other hand, is amazing.
Orion....that's the one with a bunch of power chords and boringly harsh vocals, isn't it?

Different kinds of music. OSI is much more straightforward, whereas CK is more atmospheric.

I'm not sure which I want more... I like them both a lot. HOpefully we do get more Chroma Key someday.

This, although after four OSI albums another CK is sorely needed.

The last interview Matheos did, he said February.  But I've heard it's going to be March.  Metal Blade said a couple weeks ago that video interviews ith Jim and Kevin are coming "very soon."  Thet two were in MEtal Blade offices filming them the week before Christmas.

My rankings go in album order.

I feel like I might be the same, as well, but I don't think I've listened to their second and third albums enough to decide which would be 2nd and 3rd. I think I'll always enjoy the first one most because it's got some of MP's more interesting drumming, as well as some more progressive stuff than the latter two albums (well, in the vein of prog-metal, which is what MP and JM had wanted in the first place). I still wonder what would have been if the project remained a true MP/JM collaboration...I guess "The Thing That Never Was" is the best we've got.
